Yes, blaming him because the Penguins kept taking penalties in the 1st period and giving up powerplay goals on shots he had borderline no chance on makes total sense.
Not just this game. I am just tired of him. Every game he allows a bad goal etc etc and bad timed goal.. And has a save percentage under 90%.. And his flaws are evident. And he cant play a puck like Jarry can. Etc etc. You can even tell that the whole team trusts Jarry more. It is pretty evident.

Canucks fan here, Murray really hasn't been bad at all. Was really solid on the 5 on 3 prior to Virtanen scoring. Markstrom though has been an absolute wall and time after time masks the Canucks issues.
Agree 100%. That 3rd goal came off a 1 timer slap shot rebound from Myers which Pettersson racked off the post and crossbar and in. No keeper is controlling the initial shot or stopping Elias imho.

This is fine. Murray just gave up the starter role permanently tonight.

It is over for him.
Just like MAF was the starter forever after 09. And Murray was the starter forever after 17. We got some long term memories round here.

I've never checked out any other team's board but yet I'm still convinced this is the worst NHL fanbase when it comes to team goaltender discussion.

I wouldn't give 2 ****s about our average starter-turned-average-backup if our GM didn't seem determined to raise heaven & earth to give him fifty million dollars this offseason.

I feel like this is fairly obvious. Penguins fans have been dumb about goaltending ever since their tandem was Barrasso-Wregget. This isn't anything new.

I don't realy care about Murray's bad play. (just move on from him at the end of the year, no big deal)

what actually matters was that he was a 926. playoff goalie in the back to back cup runs.

he's already done whats needed to be done here by x100

I just don't get how MM repeatidly has a less than .900 save % and I'm pretty sure Jarry has not one game below .900

That's what people used to say in the Murray versus Fleury debate in 2016.

The problem is the people who were going after Fleury and said he sucked were wrong, though. Saying Jarry over Murray is right is one thing, but saying Murray sucks is just as wrong as saying Fleury sucked in 2016.

I don't look at other team's boards much either but am pretty certain that none of them are overly reasonable about anything, especially when things aren't going well.

Yes. I remember. We were SO CLOSE to perfection with Vokoun. Finally could ditch MAFs bullshit...but...f***ing bloodclots, man.

I want to be angry at this take. But you're right - just accept that Murray as a Penguin peaked during the Cup runs, thank him for his stellar play there and sometimes after and feel free to move on.

Has everyone forgot the 1st period of the Calgary game? That period could’ve easily been 4-0 and not Jarry’s fault, but it wasn’t. Defend Murray all you want with he was screened or penalties or whatever, but the facts are Jarry is keeping them in games and Murray isn’t.

I don't even care that much that he didn't make that stop. The rebound was the bigger sin.

But the magnitude of how bad E.P. beat him - by literally feet - demonstrates how bad his glove reaction time is. It's a huge problem and always will be. Everyone knows high glove is the book on Murray.
That's been my point for most of the season. He doesn't give himself a chance to make saves. Goals 2 and 3 are great examples of that.
