Seems just as likely that he will do something so stupid the pens can terminate his deal as it is him putting up 70 points.
Zucker for Kane (@$5M) + conditional pick. condition if Kane puts up less 69.5 points in 22-23 San Jose gives up a 2nd round pick.
This would act as insurance, because if he continues to be a shit head and not play in the NHL he will not reach that mark.
So you are saying Kane @ 5M plus a 2023 2nd for Zucker. Meh, not bad.
I would prefer something along the following:
Pitt gets Kane @ 2.5 M for Zucker + 2nd + 4th
Cap floor team gets Pitt 2nd + SJ 3rd, and 2023 SJ 2nd + 3rd to retain 2.5 M on Kane and 2.75 M on Zucker
San Jose gets Zucker at 2.75M + Pitt 4th for Kane, 2.0 M in retention + 3rd + 2023 2nd + 2023 3rd
Above helps both our teams with cap space next year, you get 3.0 M in relief, we get 2.25 M, plus it reduces Pittsburg's risk if Kane does implode. Kane's on-ice production is also likely much better than Zucker's, and at half the cap for longer (so if he doesn't implode, high value for you).
Cap floor team uses two retention slots next year at 5.25M, but only one slot at 2.5M for the 23 and 24 seasons (getting 4 decent picks as currency). If that isn't quite enough, we could each toss in an excess B-prospect that has dropped down our depth charts.
