Truth is, when you look at the mix of forwards and the Pens style, so much of what they do is predicated on the defense's ability to move the puck.

Right now, you've got Johnson neutralizing Letang, and HOLD MY BEER pairing that craps their pants at the sight of a forecheck, and whatever passes for a third pairing on any given night.

Get Dumo back with Letang. Get back Marino. And you go from having next to no shifts where the defense can help drive transition to most of the time being like that.

EDIT: Gotta add this . . . what does the fact that Sully feels compelled to play Johnson with Letang right now say about Pettersson's extension?

It says JR's "I'll get you back for taking the 1yr deal" was very honest.
