Speculation: Penguins off day talk thread: Yes, Sully is still the coach

All throughout the buying process, we were told was how cold, disconnected emotionally, and results-driven FSG were. That would've been way preferable to this stupid fanboy shit they've pulled with Sullivan and Dubas.
Seriously.

FSG were like that girl on the dating site who posts a bunch of perfect angle shots, but when you meet her in person she's about twice as heavy and nowhere as attractive.

(Not that I'm speaking from personal experience. Just shut up, okay)

I'm willing to bet they ARE those things. Here's the problem though, the Boston Red Sox aren't a f***ing hockey organization and they didn't know how to run one. In Baseball the manager usually stays with the team for an eternity. They legit just didn't know the culture of the NHL and how coaches are disposable here.

I just hope they are willing to learn from their mistakes.

10 more years!!!

The Pens are 2-3-2 in the Metro…if they hope to do something this season they need to stop just winning against the West and start winning games in regulation against the division…

Boston has made seven managerial changes since FSG bought the team in 2001. Over that same time, the Pens have had six head coaches.

Baseball and hockey aren't that different. If you like the guy in charge, you keep him. If you don't, you move on. This has nothing to do with learning how to run a hockey franchise.

Holiday roster freeze time tonight. Roster is set until the 28th. No trades or waivers. Recalls can happen if they don't involve waivers.

Shea cleared waivers and is off to WBS. Hinostroza could potentially be sent down, too, since he already cleared.

Here's a nice little off-day Penguins tidbit - the guys had an episode of The Office on in the breakroom. As I came by, I saw Jim and Darryl's jobs with "Athlead" where they are apparently a sports agency? Anyway, there was a sign with Pittsburgh and Philly professional sports teams and who Athlead represents.

From the Penguins: Tyler Kennedy, Chris Kunitz, Matt Niskanen, and Craig Adams.

Thought that was funny.

And yet Harkins remains....

Quickly becoming the next Blueger to the Pens media folks.

I'd like the next HC to maybe be a former defender or goalie who projects themselves onto those players instead of the bottom 6 guys like Sully does.

Dubas talked about how he likes to first build to compete within the Division at his opening presser.

Good meme at this point.

Games Thursday against CAR and next week against the Isles loom large….need to win those in regulation….

In the DVD extras/behind-the-scenes of The Prestige, I saw a stagehand (not sure if that's the correct term) wearing a Mario Lemieux jersey.

And there it is. Shea and Hinostroza to WBS.

Im guessing for cap reason to save for the ZERO moves the GM will make, but still silly its not Harkins. What's the record for most games played in a season with ZERO points. I think Mullet Man can get there.

Carter (I think?) gave him a pretty good pass on an odd man rush last night and Harkins missed what looked like a tap-in. I thought he might get off the schnide there but nope.

Zach Sill went 0 for 20 in 2013-14. He finished his career with five points in 93 games.

Harkins has 27 points in 169 games.

I honestly believe he's here for a few minor reasons: He's fast, hits a bit, and cap hit. He keeps the Pens as close to the cap as possible so that they are maximizing the LTIR space. He will be demoted once Nieto is ready (Nieto makes a similar amount).

White, Hinostroza, Nylander and Gruden all make less than Harkins, so I don't think the cap hit excuse works for him.

Raitis Ivanans in 2009-10 and Tyler Wright in 1998-99 both had 0 points in 61 GP. This looks like the answer I was looking for. He's got 0 in 15 with 52 remaining.........he might just get to the record.

I was willing to give Hextall more than one off season, Dubas has certainly earned at least that. He's not been perfect (hint, no GM is), but I think he did well with what he had to work with.

honorable mentions to Shane Endicott in 05/06 - 1g1a in 41gp.
Also Kevin Porter 0g3a in 41gp in 15/16.
Plotnikov 2 assists in 32 games while playing with Malkin for a good chunk of that. Amazing work.
Ended up with 1 more assist in 13 games with the Coyotes before getting the boot. I assume there was a slapshot that bounced off his ass and went right to a teammate, looking at an open cage. Something like that, surely.

Harkins did the incredible of getting on the scuderis/Adams/glass/Jack Johnson level of disdain in about 5 games
Harkins is a good reminder of how speed doesn't equal winning automatically. You still need to know how to actually play NHL hockey.
