They can't clean house this year because the interims would suck and there just aren't any good candidates.

They can't clean house next year because the interims would suck and there just aren't any good candidates.

They can't clean house the year after THAT because the interims would suck and there just aren't any good candidates.

And they CERTAINLY can't clean house the year after that because...

It's hilarious that people think the question is "how will we succeed without Sullivan?", not "how will we succeed with Sullivan"...

No one is saying they can't clean house after the season. Not a single person. I have been this board's biggest sane Sullivan backer (Josey doesn't count), and even I am saying there is a fantastic window of opportunity to can him and hire one of several strong candidates this off-season.

Wasting a season with Sullivan at the head again is exactly what I expect us to do this year. Wouldn't be surprised if they do it next year and just let go of the assistant coaches tbh.

What would be so horrifying about just handing the job to Vellucci the rest of the year and seeing what happens? Serious question... did I miss where he was a goof or something? He has a winning background as a HC albeit at a lower level. I don't think he's some savant in waiting or anything but the time for hemming and hawing and kicking the can down the road is way over unless it's truly time to just shrug and throw in the towel. And even if that's the case... who cares?

We might miss the playoffs or be embarrassed in the first round though?

Unpopular opinion time - can we dedicate a thread to just Sullivan/coaching staff? I come into here for news about the team. To hear Ned is starting tonight. To see Shea is on waivers. To play with line configurations. To see if any injured guys are coming back.

Every.damn.thread. is about sully. Can we just make one so everyone has their safe space to bitch and moan about him?

Fire Sullivan!

We're only around 30 games in and still have 50+ games in this season. You're essentially advocating for wasting those 50+ games and try again next year rather than do something now so that the next 50+ games still matter.

If we assume that 92 points or so gets us in again (that's what it took last year) then with our remaining 53 games to hit 92 points we'd have to go something like 30-20-3.

Seems pretty doable honestly, but hard to see that happening with the current coaching staff in place.

And the math only gets harder if it ends up taking more than 92 points to get in. It's honestly hard for me to see us making it if it takes many more points than that.

Where Did I f***ing say I am a Sullivan Backer??? I have said no HC is going to come in & make Mid 30's Guys be mid 20's guys again

Dubas has some sense.

Implies tearing it down starting with Karlsson if they don't turn it around fairly soon.

Which is actually what they should have done before last year.

All throughout the buying process, we were told was how cold, disconnected emotionally, and results-driven FSG were. That would've been way preferable to this stupid fanboy shit they've pulled with Sullivan and Dubas.

I honestly think a lot of it is that they're new at the whole NHL thing, don't really know the lay of the land and are getting a bunch of bad/emotionally-driven advice. But maybe that's charitable IDK.

Maybe. But right from the hop they've seemed real f***in' dumb. Bought a team on the precipice of about 15 real lean years for nearly a billion dollars then embarrassed themselves fawning over Sullivan and chasing Dubas.
