Speculation: Penguins off day talk thread: Yes, Sully is still the coach

If you were expecting Dubas to bring a flamethrower and start torching a bunch of guys, that was never going to happen and you were always going to be disappointed.

This team just needs a simple retool of like 10 forwards, 3 blueliners, and a coaching staff. Should be easy to get some more runs out of this 36 year old core, particularly with one worthwhile prospect. Sounds great.

I’m not sure how I feel about his answer about Sullivan. It felt rambly and like he was trying to convince himself Sullivan is the guy. But it does concern and scare me that he said Sullivan is the type of coach that can help you win *and* he can also develop players.

Yohe with a genuinely good question; "Is the answer to rebuild, but you can't because of Sid?"

I'm a little shocked, tbh.

Dubas basically answers "Yeah, the core's too good to be picking top-5. We hope the presence of Sid, Geno, Letang and Karlsson can serve as mentors for younger players."

Dubas get asked what he thinks the next two weeks will mean for how he moves forward, answers the most lame way possible "It's been too inconsistent. We're gonna need consistency; good or bad, to see. We have to do right by the core group." Yawn

CONSISTENCY!

CONTEXT!

THE PROCESS!

This team is like listening to an AI that has been fed corpo-speak Teams chats for a year straight.

Everyone who parroted the “FSG are all about results” and “Dubas is known for being active” lines, you should publicly repent.

Malkin can mentor younger players by showing them that if you work hard and listen to the coach that you too can play with some guy they plucked out of the stands a few days ago.
If they’re really lucky Coach Beanshit will lay all the blame at their feet for not making two anchors into scorers.

Seems like Phillips was a FO/scouting job where they bring Sully in after and ask for his opinion to make the move final. In the summer, Sully's far more involved in the process.

Cool. Yeah, blow this shit up. Lose 100 straight. What a f***ing loser organization; refusing to commit either way after six years of steady decline.

Poor Mikey just takes what he's given donchaknow.

What is he going to see in the next two weeks that’s going to make a huge difference from where things stand now?
