As a head coach, Sullivan has one good season and one bad season. Assisted for NYR for a few years so he'll have experience with Torts and Vigneault, and then worked with Vancouver in 2013/2014. He's mostly been with successful teams, so saying they downgraded when they have a coach with a lot of success, I don't think they downgraded personally.
Albeit, assistant coach, but look at Detroit now.

He preached an up-tempo puck possession style of play in the first couple month last season. Then for whatever reason, he lost his testicular fortitude and coached the Penguins in to a horribly conservative shell.

Yup. Especially with Tocchet - the man in charge of the forwards and that highly potent powerplay - staying.

Penguins outside of a very few elite players aren't really any good. Look at that defense. I'm not convinced the roster is any better then their record.
Sully never coached alongside AV. He was a big perpetrator of the Rangers 6 goalie system. Expect the Pens to get shelled in shots against now.

That's the killer...the Penguins entered last season playing an up-tempo style and looked like they were legitimately having fun...and then fast forward a year and they're playing a system that you'd expect an expansion team with no skill to be running.
It takes talent to turn that much skill into a roster full of Blair Atcheynums.

They already have the third worst SA/60 in the league at 31.4 (behind the Flyers at 31.8 and Senators at 32.9). So at least we don't have far to go before hitting the bottom.
