Confirmed with Link: Penguins and Mike Sullivan part ways

I hope Sullivan is going in with his list of demands!

1. Bryan Rust.
2. ZAR
3. Harkins
The Rangers trade with the Ducks for one of Sullivan love child. Quick Dubas trade Accari to the Rangers!!

A Torts and Sullivan reunion? I can think of very few more glorious things... provided I'm not a NYR fan.

I feel like we aren't that fortunate or lucky, though.

The real question is can misunderstood super coach Mike Sullivan dig deep and STILL take the Rangers to the promised land even with the drag of one of biggest morons in league history tagging along? I would have to think so... the only reason he wasn't successful here for going on a decade is because he's just a big ol practical joker who is REALLY committed to the bit. He's been SECRETLY amazing this whole time he just didn't feel like actually showing it... or something.

I don't know it's hard to keep up.

It's going to go the same way 99% of coaching changes go.

They'll start off hot with a new voice, HFboards will clamor how amazing Sully is and how terrible the Pens are for letting him walk. By the all-star break, they'll be forming a mob in Central Park to take him out.

Everyone save this post.

Me and Dude won't even be obnoxious about it when it shakes out exactly like this.

OK I might but he... uh...

You know what just save that post.

It took some balls for Sullivan, who was only interim coach and I think lost his first 4 games? To go to JR and say “I need these types of players in order to play the way we need to play.” Then a couple trades and a couple call ups and we went from a boring bland no-identity team to one of the fastest and most aggressive teams in the league. We were kind of a juggernaut for a stretch. You know you’re good when you win a Cup entirely without your #1 D.

I think I’m just getting old and recognizing there’s a pattern you can set your watch to with stuff like this.

I think I’m getting more obnoxious, though.

Hi are you actually me?

I'm not smart I've just watched this stupid league way too long. There are absolutely patterns especially in such a regressive, dinosaur organization.

Mike Sullivan does not at all have the look of some kind of misunderstood super coach that just needed... whatever it is ya'll think he needed. He looks like yet another middling former player who caught lightning in a bottle with 75+ percent of the heavy lifting coming from the direction of a handful of legendary players. But that doesn't sound nice or planned or whatever so he has to be this like... sleeping juggernaut. I just don't get it.

Here's what's going to happen in my reality,

Penguins hire either Carle (young hot name) or Cooper (if he gets fired in Tampa, he's the vet I'd want) and per the usual (historically speaking) bounce to a 1st year Cup win, Crosby winning a 3rd Smythe.

The Rangers, led by the American Dream Team, Mike Sullivan and Johnny Torts, who owe us a 1st round pick, will retain their selection this year, and kick us an unprotected 2026 1st. Subsequently, the Rags will collapse, and end up in the lottery, the random ball thingy bouncing our way, putting Gavin McKenna in a Penguins sweater, not long after celebrating a meteoric rise back to the top of the league mountain.

The good news is that none of this matters and just acts as a temporary distraction from the crushing reality that we, and everything we know, will all be dead some day.

Might as well live each moment with as much sticktoitiveness as possible. Sully is love. Sully is life.

I fully understand the Rangers signing Sullivan, but hiring Tortorella as an assistant makes no sense to me.

1. He failed as head coach there before.
2. Dude is like 70 years old.
3. He's coming off a shitty tenure with the Flyers.
4. He hasn't been an assistant coach since at least 2000

People are probably going to say some stupid things about how "if anyone can keep Torts in check it's Sullivan!" based on absolutely nothing.
