I am ridiculously excited about this trade. I thought when they missed the playoffs that the window was shut. This trade has opened it a little bit, perhaps better than any other possible trade could've. I don't know if it will work out, but at least it's something. And without needing to give up a whole lot, as well.

The 1st the Penguins sent to the Leafs was actually double-protected. If the Penguins had missed the playoffs in both 2016 and 2017, the Leafs would've gotten a 2017 2nd and no 1st at all.

However, I went to pickup a doghouse for him today and the people selling it are apparently Bryan Rust’s uncle and aunt (I live in Manitoba) so that was fun and unexpected. Talked about Karlsson, the Cup party etc. Also how much they hated Burke lol. Said the Pens org is world class in how they treat players etc. Small world.

The comments there make it sound like Letang expects to be on the same unit as EK.

I expect that too, but I am curious how they'll deploy it with 2 dmen. Teams just don't do that much these days.

I expect that it will be an umbrella with EK at the top and Letang as a shooting option on the left and Geno as one on the right. We'll see though

I'm open minded about where Natalie Portman and I live after we get married. If she wants to stay over in France, I'm happy to re-locate, but NYC, LA, whatever it doesn't matter to me. We'll make it work, she's my wife Natalie Portman after all.

Thing is, rest of the wingers aren't anything special to be worth displacing Letang. That's why other teams do it. 4 forwards usually means more offensive skill.

Other inside baseball: Malkin’s kid is destined to be an athlete and had man hands at like 4 years old. Malkin’s wife is so stunning that she’ll stop a whole room of NHL players and their wives in their tracks when she enters (Rusts aunt even agrees.) Malkin himself, they’re worried he’s getting slow haha.

Yeah...I noticed that too.

I don't think it's a bad idea, as it removes the weakness of having a forward playing D on a potential SH break. I'm sure that Letang could get back before Malkin does. I just hope Letang isn't expected to pass to EK's wheelhouse for a one timer :\.

The question is if the PP falters, how happily will Letang move to the 2nd unit, and would Reardon even do it! Time will tell.

All in all, this does make the upcoming season much more entertaining.
