Whoever is responsible for putting together the next Penguins anniversary movie when they get to the Hextall era:

Only if they depict Sullivan this way.

Thinking about Erik Karlsson right now.

Erik is not only great at the transition game, he's got Tom transitioning as well.

Goat.

I still cannot believe we got him, and even furthering that point didn't give up a single major asset except the '24 1st. The hoops Dubas jumped through to consummate this deal was incredible. He truly threaded a needle. The end of the Malkin-Crosby era will be far more exciting and entertaining as a result. Let's Go Boys!

Very excited to watch Karlsson warp space and time and take advantage of the possibilities of non-Euclidean geometry to get the puck to Sid. Karlsson is arguably the best player Sid will have ever shared the ice with 5-on-5, his ability to impact the game is that extreme.

It is hard to believe Erik F'ing Karlsson is a Penguin. Can you imagine if someone had told the HF main boards Dubas was going to get EK for a lottery protected first, a 2nd/3rd swap, and almost all of our dead weight, and it would be basically cap neutral...

Yah. I can see why they're pissed. It's the fear and anticipation that the Pens will be good again and win another cup. Even if it doesn't happen, Dubas is puttin' hard times on the rest of the league.

I am a Leaf fan but as a Swede and hockeyfan it will be wery exiting to watch Erik Karlsson on Penguins. I expect a increase in highlight reels.
Maybe if he was a penguin in 2016-2017 you'd have some eye-popping highlight vids night in night out.. the boys getting on up in age so I wouldn't figure on too many, but I'm expecting a few myself. (even if it's against the slow old bottom feeder teams) ....hmmmmm.... :snide: then so be it

Check out his full highlight reel from this last season.

Unlike leafs that probably wont surprise anyone when choking in first or second round, i belive Penguins can surprise. Dont underestimate old farts, i mean it, they can stink up a place in seconds.

Just kidding i belive they will get energy from this trade and others. And at least reach playoff. Then everything can happen.

I'm just excited to see Crosby drop pass to Karlsson and do something.

I think Matheson was really missed for just taking the puck and going bulldog mode on the ice.

Dumo kept getting the puck and would either shoot it and miss the net or just dump it or fumble.
I hope Graves can make the smart play.

I really do think this top 4 healthy D will really aid the defense and make up for the extra year on crosby and Malkin

Agreed. On that note too, I think when you have a line out there like say - Jake-Sid-Rust and then you have Matheson wheeling the puck up the ice, I think two things happen:
1. Matheson is looking to do great things with the puck to position Jake-Sid-Rust well for the offensive zone threat.
2. You have the other team looking at Matheson as a guy who carrying the puck...but the threat is still Sid...then Jake...then Rust.

Even if Matheson can really wheel, you're still seeing Sid as the threat on that line. You're not going to want to drop coverage on Sid to focus on Matheson. With that, I think Matheson will still have a Sid-centered mindset. I think we have a lot of guys who are still in that "get the puck to Sid or Malkin". Letang may be the slightest exception to that.

With Karlsson though, I think that flips a little bit. You know have two focuses and you can't take your eye off either - using the example of Jake-Sid-Rust with Karlsson now. While the Sid-centered mindset has 4 guys reading off Sid, I think the addition of Karlsson adds a component of "Sid and the group can read and react off Karlsson". We haven't had that in a LONG, LONG, LOOOOONG time...if ever really.

The dynamics of how an entire first line can play has changed for the better. As long as Sid doesn't get too "Sid" about "I like it this way", I think we can start seeing a lot more creativity and magic from them. That said, the same could be said for Malkin's line, potentially to a great extent because I don't think Malkin is as particular about the style of play and predictability that Sid has. Malkin's ability to read plays is still top-notch. He may even welcome a reduction in the burden of being "that guy".

I think or atleast hope a 3 time Norris winner in Karlsson who is one of the highest paid players in the NHL can tell Crosby to 'f*** off' nicely and play his game.

If he defers to Crosby ye they will still get points but if Karlsson can play his game with no worries we can see both thrive. Especially the powerplay.

It would nice if EK came in and told the team their PP is shit and that he's the new boss in town.

Strange presser.

Embarrassing question about Burns.

He seemed neutral - which is the confidence in a star. I wanted a little more excitement - but that's twofold: we're really not the powerhouse we were that he's now joining, and again...he's a star, so he's bringing stuff to the team instead of joining the team.
