Looking at the Canucks roster they ran with last night, man that forward group is ugly after trading Miller. It's literally 1 line and then a bunch of 3rd liners.

Also it seems like they'll be using Pettersson as their 2nd pair anchor, he played 25 minutes last night while playing with Myers. I'm not sure he's really good enough to anchor a 2nd pair like that, but hey it's not my problem anymore.
Canucks blueline is full of injuries right now. I think Petts does end up being their 2nd line anchor though. Their forward depth is garbage though and will only get worse if they trade Boeser. That team is going nowhere as currently constructed.

Ponomarev and Koivunen have almost been a PPG in the AHL.

It's the AHL, but still, it's something to look forward to. Those guys and McGroarty, Pickering, Broz, and Blomqvist should all be given the chance to be regulars in the NHL next season. Factor in the 1st round pick from this trade and it seems they have some pieces for the future.

I don't think any of the names above are going to be franchise altering players. I think they all have the potential to be good NHL players, just not great. You need a top 15 pick in my opinion for that. That said, Dubas has done a good job of acquiring draft capital and young talent and retaining young talent the last year.

Ya they are going to crush Petts out there. I hope he can survive long enough to still get his money this summer.

Dude, don't you know, we're bringing him back? We just wanted to snag some prospects and picks since we weren't making playoffs.

Dubby has the contract drafted already. Pure rental. Five dimensional chess, homie.

Analysis of the trade from Steve Werier, a former Florida Panthers AGM:

Dubas said they wanted to take him with one of our 2 picks in the 2nd round, this leads me to believe they were not only high on him, but also that they actually did their homework regarding this player. Time will tell, but I like the move none the less! Well done, KD has shown he is much better at selling than buying!!

Late to the party - good trade, Dubas.

Happy for the team mostly. Re-upping Petts is something I think we all thought was probable based on this team being - this team.

Hindsight is what it is - but with the news of the cap rising - makes me grit a little bit thinking of Jake. But, whatever. Dude had ups and downs like anyone and I'd like to see this org built differently going forward. Coaching for sure - but continue stacking length and size on the blueline and maybe shift towards creative playmaking in your forward group rather than just speed for the sake of speed.

Yep. Usually teams have different draft boards.
Could be a 2nd for one team and a 4th for another.
Guy is playing against Adults this year so he's looking worth more than a 3rd round pick. Maybe we got a 1st and 2nd?

All I know is Dubas got us for a player not wanting to sign.
Brunicke
Koivunen
Lucius
Ponomarev
Bunting

Then traded Petts & O Connor
1st rounder top 13 protected and moves next year
Fernstrom -3rd round pick that sounds like a 2nd pick in value and arguably worth more?
Heinen - Blah
Desharnais - Blah
Both low cap hits who cares

We won't be getting many more Hauls because well hard to get top pairing / top 4 defensemen and 1st line wingers to trade.

These returns are amazing.

That would be hilarious to be honest. Petts made that backdoor year for the pens 6 years ago. Maybe he did it again lol
If he wants to sign here 6 to 6.5 million for 7 years. Sure. Give him a full NMC first 4 years. NTC next 3. 16 teams to 8.
We jettison Graves to any team with a 3rd.

Agreed on that for Jake. I do think he wanted 9+ here. If it was 8x8 I think Dubas would have kept him.
