Scouting report on Desharnais for those interested:

Massive body, takes up a lot of space in front of his net but that's about all he does on the positive side. Best you can hope for him is he keeps his game simple and just doesn't do anything dumb, AKA your typical 7/8 D-man.

Whatever potential the Canucks thought they saw in him likely isn't there. I would be surprised if he ever becomes a good bottom pairing D-man. Just does not have NHL level skating, IQ or puck skills.

Also not really a physical presence despite his size.

Getting the 1st is an automatic victory. None of the other parts of the trade, for either team, matter to me.

I am not happy with a single blue liner we have under contract. But I think Graves is buy-out fodder, he's not tradeable.

Getting another 1st from an asset standpoint is huge. It’s kinda funny that Dubas potentially got more for Petts than Guentzel while taking back similar amount of cap dump.
