How is Geno not producing while Sid is? It's almost weird how they're on the same line now, Sid's started to score, but Geno's not picking up random assists on these goals -- even though they're on the same line.
Well 2 of 7 points are PPP's, with one Sid staying on to help PP2.
One's in OT where the other Forward was Glass. Malkin changed.

So that leaves four L1 goals:
Sid gets it to the point to Letang. Nice pass to Rakell in the slot who flings it top cheese.
Next one very similar. Sid gets it to Petterson. Long range shot deflected by Rakell
Malkin passes to Karlsson on the wall, who gets it to Grzelcyk. Point shot deflected by Sid by Dostal.
Then today Rakell does all the work to steal it and set up Sid.

So the only one of those 4 that Malkin was really involved in was the 3rd one, and there's no tertiary assists.
He's a bit unlucky outside of that, with some of the looks they got. The Pens system which constantly utilizes the points makes it harder too.

Like I said - Sid just needed Rakell and time. Geno is used like an over priced decoy and isn't needed on that line really. He should be back to centering his own.

That's a pretty good way of putting it so far. But I think the points are coming for him. They're getting too much chances and possession.
Still, pointless in 7 of 8 is grim when you're getting 19-20mins.

He’s a C. The second best we got and one of two such on our team who can carry others to production. Making him a bit part player is just as moronic as it was in the past.

It is that simple, never mind short term results, production or lack of such.

In the last few hours NHL.com edited the video of Crosby's 2nd goal to remove him slashing the Habs players stick.

He’s F1 and they’re having him get on pucks and get them/keep them in, and he’s doing a good job, but it absolutely neuters him…DOC can do the same thing on L1, or Beau lol…Geno needs to be participating in the actual scoring part lol…

This week is a litmus test…three road games against Metro teams ahead of us and Thursday-Fri is the gauntlet…if all they do is 1-2 or worse, the fire sale and coach-firing needs to happen this month lol

The decision to be sellers should be made if that happens, but a lot of contenders won't have cap space until closer to the deadline. I'm fine waiting until after Christmas for the actual sell off.

Honestly, I’m hoping as the season progresses, if Geno is still on L1, that we move towards a second or third line that is McG/Poulin- Broz-Koivunen…bring up all four of those players the second half of the season…or could do something like…
Poulin- Sid-Rakell
Mcg-Geno-Koivunen
DOC-Broz-Puusty
X-Pono-X

Sell off as many of the bottom six vets as possible…

I'm still pissed off about Sid and Geno being out there with Accairi to end the game. When it was obvious the Habs would do something. We have 3 lines of 4th liners... Couldn't find anyone else more important to lose to injury if things goes completely sideways?

f*** I hate this coach.
LOL...to be fair, he did put out our three toughest forwards so technically he was doing the right thing.

Well the firing of the coach ain't happening, we know that. As for a fire sale, I am of the opinion that we should be active on the trade front early (and often). Getting picks is nice, but how about improving the team? I always was under the impression that was management's job. We have a lot of shitty players on this roster. If the coach wants no part of the replacements down on the farm, then maybe he would accept new players from the outside.

You cannot win games consistently with one line and a hot goaltender. And yet, I truly believe Mike Sullivan believes you can. So we can forget about seeing Malkin back at C anytime soon, even though it is the no-brainer move. Rust's return is probably going to put Puustinen in the press box next to Puljujarvi. But does Sullivan break up the first line to insert Rust? Of course he will, so expect Malkin-Crosby-Rust coming to an arena near you.

Generally agree that it's time to start turning over the lineup and punting on some vets. Any pending UFA on the roster needs to be traded.

I think DOC is gone before Rust. I like DOC as a player, but he's 27 not 22. He's not going to be a contributor the next time the Penguins make a deep playoff run. Get picks for him and make room for an actual young player. Rust has his NMC for the rest of the year. It will take the right team being interested for him to move this season.

I think Hayes and to a lesser extent Acciari will be hard to move with term left on their deals. Maybe someone bites on Acciari because he can still skate and coaches love RHS faceoff guys in the playoffs. Hayes was a cap dump for a reason. We'll need a contender to be absolutely desperate for centre help before he finds a new home.

Yeah, getting actual top six players in the trade market isn’t going to happen based on what Dubas says and has been trying to do…it’s sink or swim with this group and if sinking, he’s a seller. I give less odds of us trading for better players (compared to picks and prospects )than Sullivan being fired, and those odds arent great either lol…

Yeah, we’re probably stuck with Hayes and Acciari this season…hopefully Glass rebounds his value and we can pick up something good for him…DOC and Rust gone would be ideal, along with Eller and Petts…wonderful if we could get something for Gryz too…I don’t think Dubas is going to have takers for all of these guys unfortunately

I think of the expiring guys Pettersson, Eller, and DOC will have multiple interested teams. Petterson is possibly the best available rental defenseman, Eller is proven winner at a premium position with no trade protection, and DOC is an almost league minimum salary player that any cap strapped contender could see as a bottom 6 upgrade.

Beau and Griz will be 2nd or 3rd tier options for teams that miss out on premium rentals. Probably not bring back better than 5th rounders, but free draft picks are free draft picks.
