Richards, Williams, Greene and brown with excellent performances

kudos to Greene for the -4

honorable mention to quick and sutter

I hate to say this, but for the long term success of this franchise, something like this was completely needed.

I don't think it was only the fan base that had this ridiculous notion that this team, and certain players on it would just flip some mythical switch and turn it around come playoff time. This team has had massive holes all year, holes that weren't exploited by average teams but were going to be exploited again by elite teams. Like someone said earlier, Chicago put out the playbook on how to beat the Kings, and teams are just going to copy it.

The Kings need to get faster on the blue line and more skilled up front to be able to compete with the elite teams in the league. Having guys like Mitchell, Regehr, Greene, Richards, Williams and King playing key roles is not going to get this team another championship.

I look forward to the significant changes that will surely come this summer, it was a great ride for some guys on this team, but the Kings need to build their team with 2015 in mind, not 2012.

I'd bet you're going to be disappointed.

this year is our last chance to buy him out i believe

Settle down, guys. I'm as upset as I'm sure all of you are but the dust needs to settle a bit first. It's not like Brown and Richards have no value. I'm still trying to figure out what the deal is with those two. I was one of the guys who said Richards would turn it on in the playoffs, but that ain't happening. He's been a liability, along with Brown. Greene, Regehr and Mitchell can't handle the speed. It's time the Kings let McNabb/Loverde/Bodnarchuk get their opportunity.

You have to buy out Richards, no team. Even Florida will take that contract without salary coming back.

Yup.

Think about it, put yourself in Edmonton or Florida's shoes. Those are the teams everyone seems to think would have an interest in MR.

Well in the eyes of those management teams, they are probably 4-5 years from contending, do you think when they are ready to contend they are going to want to be strapped down by $6 million in cap space on 35 year old Mike Richards, my god the way looks awful at 29, just imagine what he will look like in his mid 30's.

Contracts like MR's are exactly why the CBA has compliance buyouts.

Everyone wants to talk about the great development of the Kings, and they do a nice job with depth players, but all the flopped first round picks and the other picks that were traded are starting to hurt this team because there is no one ready to replace a guy like Richards, or play 2nd line lw.

My thoughts exactly.

The only good thing is that the Kings can't play any worse. Maybe they won't do any better, but it can't get worse.

All that's happened is that SJ has won 2 games at home. Try again on Tuesday.

Well, we'll see. If Dean sticks with some of the former core players and their laughable contracts then he will be the next Jay Feaster. Does anyone other than the Flyer ex-pats honestly believe that MR will come anywhere close to living up to that contract, and I believe this is the last year of compliance buyouts.

i disagree, sj knows when they hit and skate they kick our ass and they can turn it on like nobodies business

Don't hold your breath. This team has rolled over. And with this damaging loss, they can't come back. There's a difference between losing with dignity, and getting demolished. We got demolished.

So definitive. Before the series started, would you have said that the Sharks would, without a doubt, score 13 goals in the first two games?

If they come back to do anything in this series, you don't get to cheer.

Everybody calm down. Years of being a Kings fan before 2012 has prepared us for all of this.

That is very true. This is nothing new to us long time fans. Quick put on a Hrudey like performance, Regehr, Mitchell and Greene all looked like Huddy, Hardy and Watters. The big names on the team pulled a disappearing act, and we have a stubborn coach behind the bench who sometimes makes some head scratching decisions. And they let the Sharks just walk all over them.

That may be, but so far the only thing that has happened is SJ has won two games at home.

If the Kings have any fight left, we'll see it on Tuesday. If they get smoked again, then that's something else.
