Thornton loves fighting good players. He is the best shot picker in the league. Take last game for example, he instantly goes for VV when he is was our #1 d man because doughty was out, creating a 4 on 4 where LA can only ice slow d men.

another game he goes for Doughty, take him out of the game for a while. 5 min without Doughty is brutal for the Kings.

A quick google search will show the last few people he fought, including Jamie Benn and Jonathan Toews. When Big Joe fights, its all strategy.

His game now has a lot of hesitation which is directly related to those concussions. Probably the biggest reason his play has fallen off.

Seriously, Kopitar is far from a concern to me. Last playoffs he obviously wasn't skating normally, and all his shot-based stats tanked, which was far from normal. He is back to his ordinary beast wizard self.

The key to me is Doughty. I doubt he's going to be 100%, just like Mr. Toews for the Blackhawks. I only hope he's healthier than I think he is. The team will put up a good fight no matter what, but he's the rock of the defense, and a big difference maker in the playoffs.

If you want the Kings do get into the sharks head, especially Thortons, you target hertl, especially brown. I'm not talking about cheapshots. I'm talking about big clean hits. Hertl is a soft spot after the brown hit, they should take advantage of it.

And he'll get called for a penalty because he's Dustin Brown. If he does somehow lay a hit on Hertl, I want it to be a massive, legal, open ice hit that absolutely crushes him. Like the Sedin hit times ten. That would be awesome.
