Value of: Pavel Zacha at the DRAFT

Sometimes people mature as they age. I thought his first playoff year in Boston was good, last one was lacking but it wasn’t really an effort thing. More snakebit than anything else. The entire team was overmatched against Florida though.

If he were moved I’d expect it would be at a deadline and he’d return something similar to what Carlo just returned, I think that’s about where his value is. I get that you don’t see him as that and for good reason- he didn’t play all that well in NJ.
He was drafted to be a core player with NJ and he topped out as a complimentary player. There is nothing wrong with that but given the state of the NJ roster during his formative years he left a lot of the fans wanting more. It's not his fault he was drafted where he was. Had he gone lower in the round to a team that was not rebuilding he would have likely been seen more positively.

I've always felt like NJD fans hate him because he didn't become a 100 point 1C. I get it.. amazing draft and he was taken high. But he has become a very good NHl player. He's no McDavid though.lol

I don't think he's hated. Most posters in the NJ section seem to have a mixture of fondness with disappointment with one or two calling him a "bust" which is hyperbole.

The more the cap goes up the more difficult it is to completely rebuild or retool because you're still required to hit the cap floor and that's hard to do when a team has too many ELC or second contracts. There is the option of buying up all the Shea Weber and Robin Lehner contracts you can find but.....

The Bruins I suspect will certainly try to ramp up their developmental system but they'll also be players when free agency comes around in July. They'll have a lot of holes to fill anyway.

Would a 2025 1st and Maccelli for Zacha and some other part get Utah a conversation? With Boston retooling(?), and Zacha's age/skill set, I feel like there's an opportunity for a good deal for both teams here.

I can see Bruins incluinge him in a trade for a bigger better player in return, but not trading him for picks or prospects imo

55 pts playing next to Pasta and 35 pts without is a very good NHLer?

He's a total passenger and a disappointment given his tools. In no universe does he get a 1st.

This season will most likely be his third straight with 50 to 60 points. I'm very comfortable calling him a 50 to 60 point player after doing it three in a row. Plus he had 35 pts in 50 games for the NJD which is also a 50 to 60 point pace.

Total passenger on the bruins the last three seasons? You seen his minutes and deployment the last three seasons?

Without looking.. I'll bet you are the NJD fans I was talking about in the post you quoted.

He is right between Meier and Hischer for 5 on 5 production this season while providing very good defensive support and face-off ability. Over the last three years combined he is just a few points behind Hischer at 5 on 5. He is not a good PP player. He is no world beater, but he is a top six two way player on a good contract with term. He would certainly net a first.

He is, frankly, the Bruins only top six player not named Pasta. Guys like Lindholm (unfortunately) and Geekie are more middle six. So I can't see them dealing him for a 1st because they aren't going to commit to a full rebuild.

dont know why saying is a passenger, he's not, he's one of the best story of this pathetic season, like everyone in this team it's a bit of a down year for him but he's not available if yes he could get a 1st pick 100%
