Probably not moving. Would venture to guess if he would it would have to include a pretty sure fire top end young defenseman. Devils probably have the pieces to make it happen. But not sure it makes sense to do it for them.

Nemec would be a great start to a package though.

Maybe Miller from a Rangers perspective. However, I haven’t had a lot of viewings of him.

Still don’t think he’s gonna be moved any time soon unless he wants out.

Nemec is not available for Timo Meier. You are certaintly not getting him for Buchnevich.

Buchnevich is every bit as good of a player (if not better) signed longer term at a reasonable cap hit. Not trying to pitch a sale here, but put some respect on Pavel Buchnevich's name.

That’s fine. And that’s what I was getting at. A young top end D as part of a return is the only one thing that would make sense.

I don’t really think Meier is much better or a player than Buchnevich if at all anyways, but that’s besides the point. Buch isn’t expiring why trade him

Nemec isnt for sale according to Fitz, If the Devils dont land Timo id assume Buch is a backup plan. Maybe something like 2023 1st, Mukahmadulin, Johnsson (cap), and 2025 3rd

That’s not remotely close to being sufficient.

He’s contracted at 5.4 for 2 seasons after this.

We have 3 firsts. mukahmadullin is a good prospect but far from a sure fire top 4 guy.

What I was trying to get at was echoing what others had said previously. He’s not untouchable by any means but it’s extremely unlikely we move him. We’re missing one thing in our system and it’s defensive prospects who are high end. There’s no reason to move Buch unless it’s a sure fire core piece going forward. Because he is a core piece for us in this retool.

Fwiw, I don’t expect the devils to entertain moving Nemec or Hughes. But you guys have both so it’s the most realistic outcome of a scenario that would make sense on our end b

This is the correct analysis. It's pretty simple when thinking about a player like Buchnevich who is in his prime on a good contract with some term left. You add this type of player to your core. To buy a core player you send someone back who can be part of the Blues core. This part requires actually listening to the Blues about what they want though, I don't think that has been absorbed yet.

Literally asked for a top D prospect. Muk would be the top D prospect on multiple teams. The Devils just have a glut with Hughes and Nemec.

That may be, but he doesn’t move the needle for us in order to trade Buchnevich. Nemec would. 🤷‍♂️

We need a top pairing defenseman.

Whether he'd be better than the best defensive prospects on another team really isn't the measure. That's a different question having to do with lots of prospect pools not having top pairing defensemen in them.

Rangers fans will likely scoff at this but Buchnevich sure as shit won't be cheap.
Before we got oreilly I wanted to do something like kerfoot, 1st, 2nd and Knies for buchnevich

Not sure if that value was is good or not, but it’s probably the best we could offer.

Unless his f***ing leg falls off (in which case he would probably not be day-to-day), no it does not. This is a silly suggestion.

you're right - it's absurd to think a guy could have reinjured himself, or had some side effects. I don't know what his current injury is but give me a break from the smugness.

He smugly said, pretending an injury to a 27 year old today affects the next three seasons based on "what if".

He's signed for 2 more seasons and change, not 3. And as a deadline acquistion current health absolutely plays a roll. Again, current DTD might not be connected to previous injury - but as a deadline acquisition i'm not wrong to be curious.

EDIT: not wrong to be curious if there is a connection to his recent injury.
