I have a feeling the Canucks will give him a strong offer. they are in need of a centre until Elias moves off the wing. I could see him playing well with Pete as well..

Baertschi/Liepsic - Horvat - Boeser
Virtanen - Statsny - Pettersson
Granlund - Sutter - Loui
Gagner - Gaudette - Goldobin

5mill x 5 years?

Evander Kane just signed for $7 per.
On the other hand Jonathan March's new deal with the Knights looks like a bargain.

Hopefully he doesn't make it to free agency. I agree with the poster that highlighted that he's done very well money-wise on his last couple contracts. For him, fit and the chance to win something might trump money. It certainly would for me in his situation.

His cap hit on his last contract was $7m. I’m not sure why people think he’s going to be willing to accept a contract in the $5.5m range.

He’s 32, and there will be multiple teams vying for his services. Anything under $7m is probably a pipe dream.

Right he's 32 he won't get 7 again

He'll get 7.5m offer from the Habs alone. The only thing is whether he wants to do something his old man never could and win a cup. Which judging by their interview during the Vegas series they seem to be after. It's a pipe dream but I want him back on the Jets. He'll get so much more than we can offer him in FA though.

He's going to get 5 years out of someone.
Probably north of 6 million.

Everyone is dreaming if they think they're getting him on a short term contract. This will be his last one in the NHL, he has one more crack at making some big bucks.

I could see him signing the same deal he just came out of. 4x7. It’s an overpay, but not all that bad for a UFA, especially at the end. But it will be far from the worst deal handed out July 1.

APPARENTLY Stastny moved his family to a suburb outside of Winnipeg and got a house already. Maybe ol Chevy is cooking something up..

Only way I could see it happening is if he signed some sort of Bryan Little like contract with less term so it's probably nothing

Interesting. I hadn't heard that before.
