If I had an employee who was known to miss significant time from work for varying reasons.....sickness...mental health.....injuries.....whatever......yes I would be worried. Yes, I would monitor them for resiliency.

Am I the only one on here, who thinks of professional athletes as the same as us in that regard. Are there any 'dogf***ers' you work with? I am sure there are some in the NHL.

Yes, I am worried about Laine's resiliency. Does that mean I am calling him a 'dogf***er'? No, it doesn't. I just have my back up a little bit, and I think it is something that should be given increased attention.

Do you know what precipated his last two games in Columbus? A three game absence to....you guessed it....."illness".

I hope he returns, healthy and happy and ready to contribute. Because when he is here, he is amazing. I am rooting for him.

Wouldn't they have team doctors to decide if someone should be kept away from group for contagion reasons? I don't think you can just "call in sick" without seeing a professional in that job.

I can't tell if this is for real or if you are maybe being contrarian for ... some reason.

This is the National Hockey League. You don't "call in sick." If Laine is out of the lineup, it's because the teams' medical staff is keeping him out of the lineup. But I'm certain you would know this which makes your post puzzling to say the least.

As for his Columbus days, his "illness" was mental illness and it's a really shitty thing to pretend him missing those games speaks to a lack of "resiliency."

Show some tact.

It has nothing to do with tact man. How do we know he's not struggling now? because the team hasn't said that? I'm worried about a 10 day flu. That seems excessive to me. especially considering his history. I want nothing but the best for the guy. Want him to be a superstar. want him to be a fan favourite. But....I am concerned and hope this isn't a sign of anything.

Damn right they have medical staff. But still, you don't think there are NHL players who don't game the system? or NFL players? or NBA players.....Allen Iverson says hi.

Relax man, I think we should let the habs handle this situation.
Don't be upset about things, you can't control.
Laine loves playing for the habs.....he will get back soon.

He's been skating by himself, not with the group.

It's generally not a good idea to put a contagious person in an airplane with other people for a couple of hours either. So traveling with the team would put everyone at risk if he's still contagious. They've been winning so why risk it?

It hurts my fantasy team, but I understand that's not Habs concern

Woah! Easy there. I am taking a shit kicking for being slightly concerned about a 10 day flu absence. I've never missed work for 10 days because of a flu, but apparently some have here and there is nothing to be concerned about. We shouldn't even discuss it. In fact it is alarmist and offensive to talk about concerns for a player.

I hope he is just fine and comes back roaring at the same pace he had at the end of 2024, and that I am proven to be an idiot.
 
Something is going on. Ive been there, and Ive seen this before, and with Laine this is a sign of something. I hope Im wrong but with Laine I rarely am.
