Player Discussion Patrik Laine: ruining the tank

It is. That's why Hughes will need to be careful if he wants to extend him. Laine can certainly have an impact and his shot is elite but he is also what i consider a high maintenance player.

The wisest approach i think is to not rush anything , see what happens in the short- mid term and then take a decision on what to do once the time comes.
so Gally has been hurt lot's and signed. many players get hurt lot's
price knee and so on

not sure how the flu makes this a discussion.

It's not about the flu but about his track record in general. I'm not against re-signing Laine at all i'm just saying we need to be careful and need a bigger sample size before committing long term. We still have half of the season plus next season to evaluate him there is no hurry.

I agree with you, but I don't think this flu should factor in. They likely don't want to spread it through the locker room. Not a case of Laine sitting out because he has a runny nose.

It shouldn't. I was taking in general. My original reply was more aimed at Laine general durability than about the flu.

Flu sucks and when you're sick you're sick. I know i've been there done that 3 weeks ago and was a mess haha

@sampollock I don't think the reply button populates until you are no longer the newest post. glitch. We should be worried if it is covid. Look at what it did to Jonathan Toews

If he didn't practice I'd be a lot more worried. He's been skating at least.

Still worried just not in panic mode yet.
Same. Worried but not panicking. Ill panic when we get news.

I don't know if Laine is our next Martin Hanzal. I remember listening Eric Belanger talking about him... He wasnt really impress. He said like, Hanzal was always injured, one day it was his back, one day it was his feet, one day he was sick. He said, there are some players in the league that they need to play at 100%, while I would play Hanzal at 80% any day of the week

The flu knocking him out for 4 games. Hasn't played in 2025 yet. That is some nasty flu.
there's a nasty flu going around, I've been out of commission for almost 2 weeks now.

Starting to feel better but I couldn't imagine having to do anything physical right now.

Even the wifey is getting the cold shoulder treatment right now.

First time in my life I ever said "I've got a headache".

I remember Benoit Brunet being like that

This year was the second time in his career Tavares missed a week due to a flu like illness. All flus are nasty, you can have multiple days of fever (10+). Unless he's out another week, I wouldn't be worried. Pare almost took out his knee and he came back after only two months.
