Laine helped the powerplay. Carrier more impact on team. Dobes stole two games
Good summary. Carrier's impact has been disproportionately good because he displaced the awful Barron and got Savard's TOI down but Laine's been near-PPG. That's a huge impact for any roster in and of itself.

I hope to see him move around faster, he's a dreadnaught battleship on the ice.

Can't help myself that I have a bad feeling on this. Hopefully it's just nasty flu and not injury related. Hoping to see more clappers later this week again :)
Laine misses so much time has give many that feeling. He's had major injuries then mental illness. Durability a factor with him

If he doesn't play Friday then some big questions can be asked.

But it was 3 games in 4 nights with lots of travel if he's really sick, so I'm not that concerned...yet.

That's assuming, of course, he was traveling with the team.

It's flu season. It's raging throughout the whole world. My entire household got it + people who came and went from our place. I lost 5kg in less than a month. What do you mean "some big questions can be asked"? The man is ill.

Yep I came down with a serious case of the flu on the 31st, still recovering and haven't been able to hit the gym once in the past 7 days. I am still not 100%

Renaud Lavoie said we should expect to see Laine back in action [for Friday's game against the Capitals].

Laine, who has been sick for a few days, should be training with the group this week." - Via DansLesCoulisses

everyone needs to clam down. guy is sick and right away he is off to the Players assistance program.

When I get sick, I'm f***ed for 2 weeks minimum. It happens. Sometimes reading these threads I'm wondering if other people never get sick....
It’s not just that. If he’s contagious that would be a disaster having him around.

Exactly. It’s flu season in case nobody noticed. They’re lucky only one guy has really had it. Guhle might have had it too though I think?

and yet so many just crap on this guy

he will play Friday I bet
He may not have his legs yet (he started looking better until the Columbus fiasco) but the guy still has his shot. If he can just stand there on the PP and fire, I’ll be happy for the time being!
I hope that with Dach looking better (Newhook too) that Laine will gel with them and form a potent second line.

ndeed, according to the information reported by the journalist, Patrik Laine should be able to resume training with his teammates today.

In addition, still according to Renaud Lavoie, the 26-year-old Finnish forward should make a return to Martin St-Louis' lineup for the game against the Washington Capitals on Friday night.

Great news ! Laine doesn’t bring much 5vs5 . But on the power play, it’s night and day !!

Hutson will feast on Laine’s return

It is. That's why Hughes will need to be careful if he wants to extend him. Laine can certainly have an impact and his shot is elite but he is also what i consider a high maintenance player.

The wisest approach i think is to not rush anything , see what happens in the short- mid term and then take a decision on what to do once the time comes.

I run 3-4 times a week. I got sick mid-December and wasn't well enough to run for almost 2 and a half weeks. I'm fairly fit. If the flu was what I got, I can't imagine playing at professional sport level.
