That feeling of knowing you're one shot away from scoring is back. I haven't had that in a long long time.
I swear yesterday we just lay down and die when Detroit ties it 3-3 without him. Lol the dude is automatic. Imagine we had this guy last year in all those stupid 1 goal games. Definitely in the mix every night with a player like this

No problem about that, I rather have see the Habs in the mix and see real progress than to pick another young guy (I want aswell a top 4 pick) and become the new Buffalo Sabres lool!

It's fun great young talent, but we need to see progress from this team.

Demidov, Hage, Reinbacher and Fowler, that's a lot of talent coming already. We are going to be very fun to watch even if they don't have a top 4 pick this year.
I'm obviously not against progress but man tired of this team yo-yo-ing us around. We in da mix for Ploffs or da tank which one is it??

Ive been in tank mode for months now. Really want that top 4 pick, it will make such a difference in long run.

I don't see us being next buffalo or Ottawa if we suck one last year. Hugo has big opportunity at 2025 summer + draft to make some big improvements. Team will look alot different for the better next season

Laine is a gamer too, naturally prefers indoors i recon. There's stories about him and Ehlers on road trips buying expensive flat screen TVs in every city to play Fortnite and then just abandon them in the hotel room when they leave.
Lol.. i was confused when you said hes a Gamer and prefers indoors.. im like yah, im game for anything, and i "suppose" to play hockey you gotta be indoors! 🤦‍♂️

We can judge all we want, but imagine being 18, moving in to a different country and culture, on top of being expected to deliver every night in the toughest league in the world.
No idea how you get judgement out of what I posted, just a comment.

When our young guys are clicking and winning games, screw the tank. The tank has to be organic, rooting against this team in games just to get better drafting position is miserable. Your "feelings and wants" won't change anything. Remove your negative emotion and enjoy it for what it is, entertainment.
This is true but you also don't get demidov slaf Reinbacher if you don't tank I mean its all nice when we win but getting a piece like Demidov was really important and you just can't do that without tanking. When you have young guys carrying the load in wins like we have right now you can't be mad though

Man…Hugo are a better GM then I could ever be. I would have easily given a 2nd round draft pick for Laine.

If only I could be a fly in the wall, I would be really interested to see how Hugo convinced Columbus to pay them a 2nd round draft pick for Laine.

Sam Pollock level trade. Generation trade. I would have easily folded and given Columbus whatever they wanted.

Not really a generational trade and even if it were, we would not know that this early on.

It really comes down to supply and demand. Columbus didn't want to retain on a big ticket in a league where most teams wouldn't have the flexibility to take it on.

It's the cap world that made this trade demand possible because cap room is a huge asset in itself and the jackets were asking the Habs to exhaust theirs.

Under these conditions, there was a low demand which is advantage to the buyer.

Exactly it's all out of our control, those 2 players came to us organically, because of the moves made by our GM to weaken us and improve drafting position. But the coach and players are always trying to win. I'm happy when then win or lose, winning is fun, and losing for higher draft picks is fun too.

As a Finn I've been following Patrik since 2016 when he starred in the WJC and won the Finnish playoff MVP award. It was quiet for a long time after age caught up with Selänne but even though we now again have legit NHL stars like Barkov and Rantanen Laine has always had that special something that keeps you glued to your seat because any shot could go in, regardless of distance or lack of any mask in front of the goalie.

That is a super rare talent, and even though the man has his warts the game is so much better when he is performing. His shot just makes you smile like "yes, that did just happen". I really hope that will continue and Montreal will benefit.

Big time. And that’s okay. He’s healing from his leg injury and still contributing. I was worried about his shoulder but there’s clearly nothing wrong there.
I'd be happy if Patrik would let himself little more recovery time, and just be that 'One trick ponyist PP-specialist sniper' that was once used as derogatory term against his most obvious strength. That he wouldn't force the issue with his still lacking 5v5 performance and production. It will simply take some time after such long time out of game and practice.

His complete game will come.

I find his EV game to be good all things considered. He's set up his linemates with some slick passes, he's very good along the boards and he creates a lot of space. The issue is Dach has had a very hard time coming back from injury and Newhook has forgotten how to one time. Put in pre injury Dach and last year's Newhook and theyd be ppg with Laines return.

I think you’re giving Newhook to much credit here. He’s never been very good and left most disappointed and wanting more up to this point in his career outside of maybe a few stretches. Pre injury Dach definitely would’ve been able to mesh with Laine tho.

Laine has always been a deceptively good passer. He has the vision to be a playmaker as well but it's the one-one-ones and playing under pressure in tight spaces with that long stick that leads to errors.

If his board work has actually improved that is a huge plus as that has been an area of major weakness.

Yeah. I meant he should take easy with more physical aspects of his game. Big boy with rusty bones and relatively untrained limbs with his injury record from the past isn't best for trying to push his limits beyond their yet achieved conditioning.

I want my Dear Patrik to stay healthy and succeed, and it seems to me he shouldn't yet even try to go with all cylinders. His return single handedly renewed my interest to the NHL hockey. Something beloved to follow, again. :)

Outside of his early season last year, I find he was good and even very good down the stretch. He was pacing for 20 goals and 50 points. The start of the year has just been so awful for so many players though. Newhook gets a ton of chances but he's gripping the stick too tightly.

He put his house up for sale. Officially, I think, his agent asked for a trade after he exited the program but at the very least the writing was on the wall and most likely CBJ knew. In any case he was not going to stay unless forced to. I think it was something that was suggested to him during the therapy but most likely we will never know.

I didn't want him as a hab. I am having my crow with pepper and salt and a touch of vanilla.
