I don’t think we have the center to play with them. They will need a great defensive center with an high motor.
Sam Bennett would work fine I guess.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovski
Laine-Bennett-Demidov
Heineman-Dach-Newhook
Anderson-Evans-Gallagher

Sign Bennett 7x 7M
Sign Evans 4 x 3.5M if possible and if not Beck or Kapanen can take his spot.

Edit: maybe not Bennett, after looking at his stats, he's a 40 pts player and he's pretty bad in the face-off circle.

People will disagree but it probably should be Suzuki.

Keep your shooters out there with Demidov and Slaf in front of the net plus bump out for left shot one-timers.
Gotta disagree bud
But I do get where your heads at
One of the probs to building all these PP line ups lately is noticing it would help a TON if Suzuki shot left handed lol but oh well

SINCE Laine added to PP1 tho , Caufield is no longer a 'shooter' on the PP1 , playmaking more lately (and doing good too dont get me wrong)

Shift CC to PP2 with Dach so that our playmaker there can get his 'shooter'

it'll be VERY interesting to see what they do tho.. someone is going to be losing a chair on PP1
And it'll tell A LOT about the person how they handle it, whoever it becomes

I know people will disagree with me but what good is Suzuki if he's not a primary distributor? Hutson and Demidov are going to be the primary distributors, you have to put Demidov on a half-wall. You could put Caufield to PP2 and keep Suzuki in PP1 but then yes you have Dach running PP2 but Dach isn't really doing well with that now because he is still not posing himself as a shot threat.

If your second unit is Mailloux-Suzuki-Dach-Newhook-Heineman you've got Suzuki and Dach who can run the powerplay from different spots, and three absolute bombs.

Suzuki can also shoot, so it probably makes more sense for Caufield to be the one to lose his spot. Not too mention you want someone good at faceoffs so that you can win the initial one and be setup right away.

Laine has been absolutely terrible since going back to Columbus. 0+1 and only 4 shots on goal in the 4 games since. Had 8 goals and 33 shots on goal in 9 games before that.
Laine needs a goal bad against Chicago. Luckily Chicago is one of the teams Laine has had most success against
I watched all games because of great time for me (except CBJ - MTL). Except two periods (CBL, the first against Vegas) he was very good although he is not ideal yet, one needs time yet. Thanks to him you scored against Florida (Dach) and Newhook (Tampa), had many good actions. But I don't really understand why he didn't shoot although could. MSL should ask with him about it. It was a problem in CBJ too. He tried to pass instead of shoot.

The points aren't there at ES, which is expected after not playing for a year, but I have been happy with him buying into the team game at ES instead of cheating for chances offensively.

He's back checking, helping out defensively and was even going down to block shots during this trip.
At least the effort is there, he made some nice plays last few games some of which ended up a goal, with him being the play starter without getting an apple tho.

Laine could have passed instead of shot once or twice. How much of a problem is it. Maybe a 1 or 2/10. But I want the Habs to win bad and I just noticed that you’re in Slovakia. And there’s someone else on the team that has a legit 10/10 problem of passing instead of shooting. Could you do anything about this?

Most of the time he passes the ball instead of shooting. At least in the games I've seen. Of course, there are still issues with movement, but that won't go away so soon. It's not just a fitness issue, but also a nerve ending issue, plus Laine has long muscles, not short like Nichushkin.

One unnamed Slovak is supposedly already playing great, at least they are claiming us, so you must be mistaken. :D

Too bad I can't watch the games until the end of January, I would have liked to watch our star. 😏 Of course, only if Columbus aren't playing.

I don't think we will need him, and I feel he will cost too much.
This is the only scenario that would make sense. But I honestly think he stays for something reasonable. You can tell he loves it and he’s gonna have Demidov as a linemate.

I do wanna see how much he progresses. Though I’m generally liking his game. Like his playmaking. I’m pretty sure he has more to show. My gut tells me he’ll be a Hab long term and we’ll be plenty happy about it

Do you have a replacement we're not aware of..?
Cost too much?
We are already paying him 8.7M lol

If anything we can probably sign him for less lol
And also, you gotta think of it from The Bosses perspectives too
You don't just MAKE a trade like that, and then oh ho hum you're a free agent next year? ok bye!

Step 1: Trade for Petterson
Step 2: Extend Laine
Step 3: Wait until the summer to get Demidov
Step 4: Demidov - Petterson - Laine as the second line
Step 5: Plan the parade for 2026

Hage will be arriving at the end of next season and the player we’ll draft this summer whoever it is will have a spot in the top 6 eventually too.

It will be interesting to see what we do with the PP when Demidov is here. Who gets kicked off the first unit?
Either way the 2nd unit will be lit!

Slaf
Laine Demidov Suzuki
Hutson

Evans
Caufield - Newhook - Dach
Matheson

Time for Jake to get PP Time!
