LOL.. This board is something else sometimes.

What are you even going on about?

Did he speak with a bit of ego and bitterness, yeah big time yesterday. I don't think it was the smartest move on his behalf.

Hard to feel sorry?
His gaming?

Who cares.

He's been nothing but a solid pick up for us, and seems to be finding a home here. The reason we got him literally for nothing because of what happened in CBJ, clearly quite a sore spot for him. What happened yesterday, happened.. it shouldn't be excuse to start tearing him down.

Not tearing him down,

He reaps what he sows though, is all.

If you ain't ready to go to war with a team, don't start sh*t.

For a sport like hockey that keeps hammering how TOUGH it is, how the players are the TOUGHEST athletes in the world, they're WARRIORS and etc etc, it's f***ing crazy how fast the pearl clutching comes out.

He said something everyone already knew, didn't name a single guy and half the league is in shamble, this entire situation is softer than any soccer dive bro

You do realize Laine is the one who left the game in the 1st period with an injury..

Right?

I really don’t think he tried to start shit. That’s who he is. He’s an eccentric. He has rubbed management, teammates, ex-teammates, media figures and coaches the wrong way. When you trade for him, you know it’s probably baked in… But once again, he scores tons of goals. Claude Lemieux was chased out of Montreal because he was an asshole. Not a party guy, not lazy, just a F-ing jerk. Only the type of jerk that can help you win many Stanley Cups.

That's fair,

Welp,

He messed around and found out, I suppose.

FWIW, I have no real issues with what he said, other than he had to leave in the 1st period, and the team lost.

Bad result.

Words should be backed up.

I think Werenski's behaviour is inexcusable and shows an unprofessional like conduct on his part. Sure, your feelings got hurt but trying to intentionally injure your former teammate that you despise is gutless at best.
I doubt they were intentionally trying to hurt him, and Werenski has more guts than Laine ever will. Werenski took a puck to the face and still tried to play, Laine took a couple hits and went to the room to pout.

If Laine got hurt, its because he is frail. My guess is he quit because he is a coward.

I barely post here anymore - the Slaf posters last year polluted the boards with endless, braindead posts. And they popped up again this year when he was struggling, so sure in their positions, ready to be embarrassed again.

Now its Rein vs Mich, and soon a steady stream of Laine bashing. Same 10 guys that have no original thoughts, a limited understanding of the game, and an excess of confidence. Incredibly boring.

Those little babies pummeled him into submission though..

So,

Who's the little baby?
crazy

Reporter: "Given that Patrik Laine may have still had a chance to return to the game, can we assume that his injury was not too serious?"

Martin St-Louis: "I honestly don't know. I have to talk to Ramer [Jim Ramsay, the Canadiens' director of sports medicine and athletic therapist]." - Via HabsOnReddit

Most workplaces prefer "yes" type employees over those who speak their mind. He didn't say anything inherently bad, he called them losers and tempers flared. Unfortunately for him, they got the best of him. Laine seems like that type of kid that everyone avoids at school because of his awkwardness. He hasn't grown out of that phase, so that doesn't make him eccentric. I don't know how this will affect him emotionally again. He needs to man up and face the music. This franchise needs him and he needs the Habs to make a name for himself, prove everyone wrong and be amongst the elite. What Werenski and his cronies did last night was straight up bullying at best and got away with it. The league still has work to do. Lemieux wouldn't stand a chance in today's league. He was a bully that got away with lots and likely had lots of darts coming his way. I hope Laine is not injured again and he scores a ton more.

Words should be backed up.

He needs to learn that people who are out to get you will never quote you in context and try to interpret your words in the worst way possible, and will present it in the worst way.

So either he shouldn't discuss at all, or if you do discuss then be so detailed that only the targets of your ire can take it personally and not the whole team.

He was saying nice things about the player and trying to avoid the questions in the pre game clips I saw, said he was excited to play there again and see some friends, said it's still just one game in the schedule and all that normal jazz.

Someone must have gotten him with a "what were the reasons you left" question or something towards the end of it. Wouldn't be shocked if it was Portzline just trying to get something to use and got it.

Self inflicted. Learning opportunity

Not when you attack the integrity of a team right before the game. He should have shut his mouth on that.

And you you look even worst if you don’t show up after that.

Laine did look very bad on that
It did « look very bad ». But there was nothing surprising. It would actually surprise me if things like this don’t happen. They’ll happen again. Look at his history. That’s who we traded for. I was happy when we traded for him, I’m still very happy with it and accept that incidents like this come with the territory.

Laine just got out of the league's player assistance program. Laine is not a goon. He was brought in to score goals. If you expect him to be physical, you are looking at the wrong type of player. Case closed. I just hope he comes back stronger next game and scores 10x more.

Just getting out of the PAP he should have known better. Instead he called out teammates that had his back, and some that raised money for helping people with mental illness.

He obviously learned nothing from the program.

And Werenski shit talked him, even though Laine just went shopping to help out underprivileged kids in Montreal as part of Operation Pere Noel. Those types of arguments cut both ways.

Again, IF it was due to him lipping off, then he would have been benched from the get go.

This franchise got a very good player for nothing and tearing him down is silly. Obviously, he was an outcast over there and he called them losers before the game. So what? Was it really that disrepectful that you have to injure him and make a coward out of him? That's straight up bullying and this behaviour has no place in the league anymore. Show some compassion instead. He left Columbus for a reason, you move on and let him be. Focus on hockey instead. Pacces called the Habs losers also, did the current Hab players try to plow him despite almost getting beheaded by Chara early on his career?
