Habs was worse for me by a mile. While 4-1 sucked. Our team had no business being in that series.

The Habs series was the most wide open the Stanley cup has been for the Leafs. We make a deep run if we just beat the Habs.
An injury-plagued better team losing a close series to a worse team getting elite goaltending isn't exactly rare or all that embarrassing though. Losing a game 7 when you're up by 4-1 with 10 minutes to go is exponentially more rare, and it definitely felt worse.

almost f'uckd'er again boys

but good finisher to avoid the "it was 4-1" recurring nightmare

Poor Bobby Mac. Stuck in purgatory with two slugs like Domi and Robertson. Gawd, move them both out. If you don't get a 3rd line center, go with Mac / Homberg / Jarnkrok for the playoffs. At least Homberg works his tail off and can play some D. Play patches w/ JT and Willie. However, I did like that 4th line

Steeves is a goal scorer, so it's hard when a guy like him gets called up and placed on a 4th line with lower skilled players with limited playmaking abilities.
He needs to play with someone that can facilitate and find him in open space.
The first goal is a perfect example where if that was say Kampf who got the puck where Tavares got it, he would not have been able to consistently make that type of pass to Steeves and many times would have just fired it on net.

Good game by Steeves, Knies, and Stolarz.

Tavares Nykander and Matthews were fine.

Pray that Tanev is healthy for the playoffs. Likewise McCabe.

Rielly with another poor game. Coverage terrible on the third goal. A -1 in a 6-3 game. He’s -15 on the season. He’s just been sooo disappointing this season.

How much longer can we continue to go with Domi? We need a 3C real bad at the TDL.
Rielly is cooked at 30… I hate to tell people this but I don’t know if it’s the new family life but he has looked cooked and lost all season. He was atrocious tonight. He had no idea who his man was, he was floating around, he’s covering a guy in front of the net who’s already taken… pinches in and gets caught up 4-0. Just a brutal performance. I don’t know how the team treats this guy in the off-season. Maybe trade him cause he’s declining fast

I thought the Leafs played better than the score.

Carolina's first goal was full value, but the other two were fluky bounces.

The change of direction off a defenceman's skate happens often enough -- that's why the best play is to put it on the net.

The double-deflection off a skate and your teammate's shoulder right to to your other teammate standing wide open at the side of the net is unrepeatable. You could practice those from training camp to the seventh game of the Cup final every year for your entire career and never do that one again. It's just one of those things.

The Leafs didn't panic or fold, and we're the better team from beginning to end.

This season is decision-time for Alex Steeves. He's a pending UFA they really should try to re-sign and keep on the roster. However, he already sees the writing on the wall, and I won't be surprised if he signs elsewhere when his contract is up. He's earned a better chance than hes been getting in the NHL. He's sucked it up and shown his worth with his play, and will soon get the chance he deserves either with the Leafs or elsewhere.

The score was 6-3, which sounds like a solid win and it was, the final should've been 4-1, but both scores are solid wins.

The fact that the canes nearly came back in such a short span of time is concerning and quite frankly unacceptable from a team that's suppose to be a contender

Looked like the Carolina curse was happening again, but Matthews with a big, empty net goal. He looked drained emotionally. It must be tough sledding getting back into NHL games after that intense tournament.

Glad for Steeves to finally score in the NHL after 4 years of random call ups to the 4th line.

Domi and Robertson are doing nothing out there.

Anyone notice that dickhead Sens mod start a David Ayres thread on the mains? I guess when your team is complete shit and about to lose a wildcard spot (after your so-called "captain couldn't get his lazy ass of the couch), it's best to trash one of the division leaders.

I agree, but the both 4-1 and 6-3 sound like solid wins. I think that the 2 goals that made it 4-3 were cheap, lucky bounces and not really the Leaf's fault,

After all the vitriol before the game about having Holmberg with JT and Willy, they were all +3 on the night.

Willy really should have shot on the EN instead of passing - selfless play, but it looked like he had a better angle.

Hope Matty and Mitch are back in time for today's game.

Good to see the band back together. They are about to run our Leafs ragged to end out the season schedule, btw.

If the schedulers didn't troll our Leafs hard enough on the Carolina EBUG anniversary --> there are now 25 games to go, and 10 of these puppies are part of back to backs! Why doncha be more obvious about it, NHL..??

What does that mean?

Steeves had a pretty good game. He’s really improved on his defensive side of the game and physicality which is really nice to see and something that could help him become a fixture in the bottom 6 in the NHL.

What does that mean?
They scheduled last night's game in Carolina exactly 5 years to the day of the EBUG (Emergency Back-Up Goalie) David A game in Carolina. The whole board has been talking about it for a couple days now, so thought folks would know.

But - that is just the preface of my "they hate us" theory here - my point is more about 10 of our last 25 games being b2b. Basturrrdzzzz LOL

Keep Steeves up, he’s a more typical bottom 6 player than Domi is. Trade Domi get his money off the books, and get a guy who can actually put up points

I doubt the scheduling was anything more than a coincidence. I doubt very much when they are putting the schedule together for 32 teams that this anniversary would be something they'd plan for.
