Obviously first and foremost is his on ice play that I like. But he also has a quirky way about him that is likable, like Markov. Laine looks like he closes his eyes/ or gets drunk and picks what clothes he wears ( Dont Drink and Dress comment I made before ) and he always has this demeanor of having just been electrocuted, every time.

Thinking back the few previous years, you could see something was wrong as he seemed to be unhappy even when scoring goals in Columbus. Hardly ever celebrated goals. He must've been battling through a lot.

Confidence and overall happiness can make wonders. It's awesome to see him smiling in the practice, celebrating goals, showing emotions etc.

It's starting to feel the same as early years in Winnipeg, like he can score from anywhere as long as he gets a good look on net. He's notably rusty and imo a bit slower than previously (understandably), so look out when he gets his legs back to "normal" again and starts getting more chances at 5-on-5.

Been following him closely since 2015-2016. He's the only player since that have gotten me super excited to follow hockey and wait for that next game.

Despite being built like a monster, he seems less of a pack leader and more of a misunderstood artist. He’s apparently rubbed some teammates the wrong way wrong before. We need to be careful about that.

Which was a long time ago. Pre injury Caufield had 48 goals in 83 games and he's again pacing around 50 goals (16 in 25). There's a good chance Caufield will eclipse Laine's best goalscoring season he had like 5 years ago and never repeated.
I would absolutely love if this were true. It would be a luxury to have both of them firing on all cylinders in addition to all the other good things this team has cultivated lately.

Not arguing with you at all on this one, would love Caufield to score 40+

Laine came back at a time where the team was improving. Then he brings the hype/adrenaline, and instantly improves our depth (our bottom 6 looks kinda good)

We have an easy stretch until Christmas, there a real possibility we end up that stretch well in the famous mix.

Thank you for the responses to my post, I know the reasons why he was traded, I was simply expressing my disbelief we landed such a talented player for almost nothing. I knew of his goal scoring talent, however, I was just not aware of how well he handles the puck, how he can control the play, and how he protects the puck. His IQ and vision is much better than I thought. Its been a treat watching him these 2 games. I look forward to seeing him improve his stamina and speed. The Caps will be a good test for him tomorrow.

What in particular is it that is bothering you with how he coaches the PP? When comparing him to previous seasons PPs, I know it's still very young, it's the best we've seen and top11 so far this season.

I do believe it will get better when Laine returns and finds his fitness.
When the team loses, it’s easy to just shit on things without explaining why.

He scored 36 goals his first year

I think this is the perfect place for him. You’re right about the misunderstood artist thing I think. He’s very self effacing but most of our main core guys seem like decent dudes. Slaf is plenty confident but also a likeable cornball. Caufield seems like a sweetheart. Suzuki is a quiet confident leader. I think Laine is gonna love it and wanna stay long term

Depends on how much he'll ask for. IMO, if he wants to go over 10 per, he'll get traded at next season's TDL.

Laine style reminds me of Vanek. Let's hope that he's more committed than Vanek.

Who has a better shot between Laine and Caufield ? The 3rd best would be Heineman.
Hmmm no.. Suzuki is 3rd. FFS he had 33 goals last season.

Laine has a top 5 wrister in the league. Maybe even 2nd? He was pretty much 2nd after Matthews pre-injury/mental health issues.
