Player Discussion Patrik Laine: Part 2 - Healthy Living Edition

I’m gonna refrain from making some definitive statements about what he can or can’t be until next year when he’s not wearing a knee brace and has some proper offseason training.

He’s gotta near generational shot and high end playmaking capabilities. We’ll see what he can do with that when he’s healthy. I missed his bad games but the positives are too big to ignore. I want him to be a Hab long term but we’ll see

He’s rounding back into form since 4 Nations. Much better with the puck. On the CC goal he lost it and wound up stealing it back. It takes time and he’s finding his game.

His shot continues to be among the best in the league and he continues to look 85 years old.

He's balding hard in his twenties, cut him some slack. As long as he scores every night, he can look like sasquatch for all I care.

Remember in his time with CBJ he was a decently responsible , effective at ES, near ppg player. This first half Laine is actually an outlier, since the break he looks more like CBJ Laine. Would would be fantastic to have for next near.

Unfortunately, I have zero faith in his ability to stay in the lineup. But I like the player post break even more then the gonzo goal scoring guy we had for that early stretch.

Slaf’s wearing knee brace too.

If you practice and didn’t miss games means you can take contact. Laine isn’t a very competitive guy.

He'd probably want to bring a full lineup into the game instead of possibly injuring teammates in practice.

Laine still healing from his injury and Slaf tries to f*** him up during practice? What is wrong with him!
Forget the injury -- you don't "practice hard" against skilled teammates. There isn't any excuse for it and it's not like they're in a bad spell and Laine's been playing bad and they're frustrated and this spilled over. This is Slaf being an oaf. It really feels like Slaf's the golden kid of the organization, he's never had to earn anything and he's always given every chance to redeem himself when he messes up, so he probably feels entitled to swing his dick anywhere he wants now that he's in a hot streak.

This is pure fanfic based on nothing at all.

Also, a headcase who's been ran out of two organizations by his teammates doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Now that Slaf does it, it is "pure fanfic" that star forwards shouldn't be hurt in practice by their own teammates when they're gunning for a playoff spot. My mistake, I didn't know Slafkovsky has the green light to injure his more talented, more productive teammates.

Laine's skate was damaged. In my opinion there was a reason for nervousness, he could have seriously hurt himself. I'm not blaming Slafkovský, just saying a possible reason why Laine got angry.

That's non-sensical, going soft on skill players will just lead to those players being soft in games.

Now obviously there's a very wide range of what going "hard" means, but given that I don't even think the video even showed what happened, only the aftermath, and the title was already a clickbait lie as there was no altercation, it's clearly just more media shit stirring over nothing.
