He said himself he was no longer training the stamina won't come back after 2 months.

Just like rookies won't have grown men core strength after 1 summer these things are built over time.

I just think Sitting Laine over many players that played complete dogshit in the last year is completely crazy.

Dvorak is god abysmal
Anderson sucked for 3 years straight
Gallagher is washed
Dach does f*** all 90% of the time
Newhook just skate arounds like he's skating on an outside rink
Matheson with his 40 turnovers.

But Laine got benched already. He was atrocious last night , but when you are behind 1 goal late in the third , you dont send f***ing Gallagher Dvorak and Newhook over him
Giving up on him is way to early.

Outside Caufield-Suzuki everyone else cant do shit offensively
Newhook 52gp 9 goals 5 assists
Dach 52 gp 10 goals 9 assists
Laine 24gp 12g 6 assists

I mean let's show the obvious here , Dach and Newhook dont belong in a top 6 to begin with. Laine needs a dynamic center and another winger to feed him plays.
I think Demidov with him will help next season but Dach needs to gtfo from playing with Laine. We need a new center who can feed him and who has speed. The Dach experience is enough. It's been 52 games , if hes still not ready then its pure cope.
His stretch was most likely a fluke like Max Domi season and RHP ...

You're dead wrong on Dach. He's been driving the net really well. I'm not having it that he's a bad player, that's nonsense.

That line has pretty much nothing going for it. I got not breaking it up when the bottom 6 was performing well, but it's not performing well at all now.

So it's time to mix some things up. Not really many solutions available though. I think maybe Laine with Dvorak and Anderson. Newhook with Evans and Armia. Dach will get Beck and Gallagher.

Why bother?

We don't have somebody to put in there anyway. Dvorak is as good as gone. I mean, I guess they could bring up younger guys but they probably want them getting more ice in the AHL.

As for Newhook we don't have a replacement there either.

Next year, Dvorak's gone. Newhook may be gone as well but he will certainly be gone from the top six. Demidov comes in and takes that spot. The real question then becomes, what happens with Laine? My hope is that he can put things together because he's been really bad this year apart from his PP one timers. He deserves patience as he's coming off an injury but he doesn't do a whole lot out there right now.

Pretty much what I said in my next post... we could bring up some guys from the AHL.

Two guys who I'd love to see as alternatives on the 2nd would be Heineman and Roy and both are hurt. Swapping Newhook or Laine for Gallagher doesn't really do a whole lot. We're just shuffling deck chairs.

The only guy doing anything on that 2nd line right now is Kirby Dach.

The lack of viable depth is a problem right now. It was exposed as soon as Heineman went down. Not sure why they won't give Davidson a call up. He was the closest to Heineman we had.

What I like about Heineman is that he has a motor. We're really missing that kind of player right now. The first line has it. Dach has it. Newhook occassionally has it...

That's the thing about Roy, tons of skill but he's not that kind of player. Laine doesn't provide it either. We need more of that and Heineman was perfect. One of the reasons we were winning was that we had a few lines that could score. If the first line was off, you had Dach who could put it in the net. And then there was Evans and Heineman. That makes a big difference.

Also interesting is how this will affect contract negotiations with Evans. Since Heineman went down, Evans' scoring went away. Amazing how big a difference our rookie 4th liner made for us.

Finally MSL has been enlightened  and Patrik (btw on one left side) is playing with players who typologically suit him see the CBJ and vice versa Dach and Newhook with a fast player who prefers vertical hockey wins battles and has excellent forechecking.

I think Laine could do well with Dach, but not Newhook.

But I'm curious to see Laine in his new role. Though I think Newhook could do well with Armia and Evans.

We have sooooo many guys, who can sit.
MSL is playing with fire. Now if PL gets mad, and motivated, we are good, but MSL and Monty lost us another game..........it has happened several times this year, where they have been a deadly duo for the wrong reasons.
Laine should have been out there, late in the game, when we needed a goal. Has he played well recently, almost no one has, so we can't dress just 6 or 7 guys who have played well, we need 20.
Marty is not consistent with his decisions....

Nyquist - Jenner - Laine... it was his best line in the CBJ.

and now compare:

Laine - Evans - Armia

I think it is an ideal line. Dach and Newhook are fast players who prefer vertical hockey. Also they have tragical FO, so they need a fast player player with excellent for checking. Laine prefers horizontal hockey and Armia is an intelligent player.

Newhook is a turnover machine is the problem. Laine makes a lot of nice plays with the puck to start a passing play and when it goes to Newhook it goes to the other team. Also, Newhook isn't good at protecting the puck on the wall. Newhook is good at quick strike in transition.

We'll see how Armia and Laine gel. Evans also tends to be good with fast players.

At this point, I most want to see Laine with Suzuki, Caufield, and Demidov.

Reinbacher on the 2nd line?

What?

There are RH players like Laine. And there's a difference having three RH in the line where the sniper is only one while playing on his strong side, and RH Armia prefers to pass, his right-handedness helps him on the boards/passes, rather than in the first line where he can't use a one-timer, besides there's also a sniper on the left side in Caufield.

Caufield can pass the puck and make plays too, just like Laine. I wouldn't be against trying Laine with Caufield. But I'm looking forward to Demidov coming next year.

Yeah, he's been playing like shit. It's a lot of hockey for someone who hasn't played much.

I just always find it funny. You're going to bench one of your star players for bad decision making and being invisible, but MSL can make all the struggle decisions he wants and he'll never get punishment.

Molson should bench him for a game. It's not like anything would current since Marty is not great at adapting in-game.

I mean I agree, Laine should have been out there

But let's not pretend you're proving anything with those names. Most of them have as good of production rates at even strength as Laine so far this year.

Laine has 2 EV goals in 24 games, 7 EV points total and has been a ghost for the past 6 games. How is that MSL’s fault for going to other players? He has shown no ability to produce at EV strength this year, full stop. I wouldn’t play him either - what makes anyone think a guy who took off the last 5 nights is the solution late in a game?

Now could a better C help his game? Of course but he is as much a drain on his teammates, as they are on him.
