A lot of people hate on Biz and Whit but I feel like they bring the humour and personality out of so many players which wouldn't be possible elsewhere. Not to mention that the players seem to love being on this podcast, unlike the other ones.He shoots down the TVs on the road rumor but then hits us with the *except 1 time*

Chiclets players interview are always a blast.
Nicely balanced by Yandle too, so they actually have some good takes. I know biz played NHL but he sucked, Whitney wasn't that much betterA lot of people hate on Biz and Whit but I feel like they bring the humour and personality out of so many players which wouldn't be possible elsewhere. Laine's career before the Canadiens was full of disappointments. That's why I agree that team fit is more important than money. However, I think Suzuki's RFA contract can't be a measuring stick for much longer, as the salary cap is going up substantially. Both Hutson and Laine could break that by a clear margin, and still have a contract worth making. I have full confidence in Hughes not to play stupid games with key players and that there are respectable offers on the table.I could be wrong but I think Laine is after the best contract but team fit formula. I don't think he leaves Montreal if we offer something respectful. Best contract he can get is something around Suzuki or under and this keeps the pressure off of him. He can enjoy the hockey while he puts up 30+ goals and is not on an island by himself with talent.
The opportunity to play with Demidov has to be tantalizing.
Yes, it was once. On a road trip in California. He shoots down the TVs on the road rumor but then hits us with the *except 1 time*

He could be an ambassador of Bell Let's Talk.Keep in mind this is a guy that struggled with keeping passion for hockey. If he loves it here, with this group of guys and is having fun playing hockey in front of the fans in Montreal, I would expect a discount would be in order. Why would he risk going to a situation that could be south like Columbus, just to make an extra million or two per year, when he already banked a lot of money off his previous lucrative contract and will likely have more sponsorships and ad revenue opportunities in Montreal to make up more salary.
I might be completely wrong on this, but he doesn't strike me as a guy who's been burning through his millions either. He likes his wacky clothes and his goofy cars, but outside of that, he seems to be the homebody type who's just as happy eating a cheeseburger and watching TV as another guy would be living on the fast lane and going out every night.Keep in mind this is a guy that struggled with keeping passion for hockey. Laine’s a bit of an anti-hero. Exceptional talent with flaws. Like Kovalev. Montreal embraced Kovalev. You can see Laine means well.He could be an ambassador of Bell Let's Talk.
He'll be the perfect model for people who struggled with mental health. He'll be the perfect mentor for our Baby Habs.
Montreal is the perfect rehab city to love hockey and to be passionated by hockey. Thanks to the fans. Thanks to the culture. Thanks to the city. Thanks to the history.
Hutson likely won’t break it because he has RFA years included. Laine should not break it unless he improves his 5 on 5 play substantially.Laine's career before the Canadiens was full of disappointments. Curious.........what is our record with him in the lineup?fans love this guy

AgainLaine is such a great addition to the team. His shot might be the top in NHL. However, I find that he has many flaws in his game: his skating, his defensive, his combativity. Even his IQ or hockey awareness are to be desired.
His all around game needs improvement for sure........was great to see him pick up a couple of assists last game......he has started to hit people also, so he is a work in progress coming off several injuries.Hutson likely won’t break it because he has RFA years included. Laine should not break it unless he improves his 5 on 5 play substantially.
Right now Laine looks like the worst version scouts thought Cole Eiserman could be. PP specialist with a lethal shot and not much else.
A lot of that is probably due to injury. So we’ll see how he recovers. If they’re going to sign him though, I hope he’s willing to take a discount because right now he’s not worth a premium deal.

7 for 5 yearsHe's gone through a lot and he's found stable ground in Montreal and is not on an island by himself. I think he is after the best contract but team fit so yeah, I think many of us will be surprised if he leaves.
$8.7M AAV right now. Does he stay for $8M AAV or does he want $9M? Hard to say

This guy is loving playing for the Habs!!
I say this summerNo idea. But 5x $7-8M seems fair. Does he sign that this summer after July or do they wait to see another year?
As long as he is taking chances with the puck with players behind him (defensive coverage), I'd let him do all the dangling he wants. He does have a big body and uses his frame well. Tries to be a center at times which can create issues. I know that's what the Jets didn't like.
Goal scoring is not something you take for granted. Laine provides it and can break open a game.
And even if he's not perfect, it's about finding the right role for him. He doesn't have to do everything - as long as he's willing to re-sign for the right cap hit.Again
Look at how much time he had off
He is just starting to warm up
