The usual suspects:
  • Rangers
  • Canes
  • Devils
  • Stars
  • Blue Jackets
I still like the Devils if they really come to the table.
I look at it more like which GM’s are we negotiating against. Canes and Devils are pretty smart. Jim Nill seems pretty solid. Drury, you can question his overall GM skills but he seems to lowball the Canucks for Miller everytime.

Columbus with Waddell interests me the most

Of the most rumoured teams BOS CAR NYR CAR the best outcome is getting Dawson Mercer.

If CBJ came to the table Sillinger would be the next best and what might be added could make it much more attractive

Sounds like minimal interest outside NYR at this stage, and they are messing around. Just pull him off the market till the TDL. Rangers actually want a sweetener.

i don't want to be like 'i know a guy' but i'm ultra skeptical of the reported interest from teams other than the rangers, canes and islanders and i don't think the islanders are that serious

I don’t see Chytil as more of an upgrade on Suter.

Chytil is a better two-way player and his ceiling is 45-50 points as a 2nd/3rd line tweener. He's very similar to Nick Bonino 10 years ago.

That said, he makes 4.5 mil over the next 2 years and has a nasty injury history. He's more of a risk than a positive asset.

New York would be wise to just trade him for futures and backfill that role on the third line....yet Drury is trying to trade him for a bonafide top 6 center.

what makes him a better two way player? he’s 3 years younger than Suter but puts up around similar numbers besides 2 seasons ago.

To me, Suter at 1.6M and without the injury concerns is more valuable. Unlike others, I firmly believe Suter nets you a 2nd rounder. Blueger went for a 3rd 2 years ago.

J.T. Miller
  • Offers haven’t been great; a deal would have been done if they were
  • Some offers have been lowballs
  • Turns 32 next month, 5 years left on his contract at 8m, having an off-year, issues with Pettersson, and had a leave of absence
  • Rangers are still in the mix but are 6-0-3 and can be more patient
  • Hurricanes have interest but have a very hands-on owner that likes to bargain shop
  • Tom Dundon, Hurricanes owner, is well known for calling agents during contract negotiations and reminding them of the low cost of living and low taxes in Carolina
  • Believes the Devils like Miller a lot but making a trade for them is a lot tougher
  • Hasn’t been asked to waive his NMC
  • Would assume Canucks have no interest in retaining
  • Canucks must be frustrated as they aren’t getting fair value in return
  • Hear a lot about the Blackhawks but isn’t sure if it’s over Miller or Pettersson
  • So many teams checked in on him; teams love his physicality and edge
  • Everyone loves Miller the player but don’t love his contract and there’s dressing room issues
Pettersson
  • Everything is on the table right now
  • Not happy after the Buffalo game
  • If the Canucks are still taking calls on Pettersson, he has to be in play too
  • His name is still out there

I don’t see Chytil as more of an upgrade on Suter.
If the concussion history and ongoing risk wasn't real, he probably wouldn't be available. Good size, elite wheels and solid 5v5 numbers. He's a good player.

I like him as the money piece coming back, but would want Perreault* in the deal.

If the Capitals decide to re-sign Chychrun, i would try and use Perreault as the main piece in a deal to try and pry Fehervary loose this summer.

Devils are by far the best team to send JT to. Would reduce the likelihood Quinn ditches in UFA to join his brothers.

Forget this year, forget this core.
The Canucks might have to be the best team in the league to make the playoffs now if only 98 pts are needed.
There is no possibility of winning a trade that helps that much for this year and trading for another aged veteran is a bad move unless they are bringing in 2 or 3 younger top six guys under 24yrs old and just want a settling influence sort of what Giroux brought to Ottawa.

Many will only look at the players now and not the future or the other big return, maybe bigger than players, cap space. With cap space they open a huge area of possibilities.

Please don't let the "owned" media/marketing shows sell fans on how much worse a rebuild might, could, is possibly would be. This core group has lost 7 out of 8 times. They are not young, only one player of consequence under 26 yrs old, Hughes.
I hope they try to build a team with unconfirmed Hughes intentions in two years. I do think that if they target two years from now as the "window" with a bunch of younger players all close in age they will have a much better chance to re-sign Hughes if the team is on the upward swing and not treading water like it has been for years.
If the team still sucks that badly next year then they will have enough younger experienced NHL players that trading Hughes for the #1 pick overall possibly McKenna to then step in and they grow together for 8 years while under cap CBA) control.

I know so many posters think trading him is ludicrous but the team has won without him or a player like him, he does help with wins but also is covering up big holes on defence.

Rutherford could start to build for that event, the rest of this year and all of next year, who knows maybe hey do a Tampa and go to the bottom and get the #1 without trading Hughes but even if that is the case trading him then might still be the best time to maximize the return. If he gets a lot of Norris and Hart votes that only increases trade returns.

Boeser, Miller and Pettersson are not as young as the local media shows market.
GM's will be much more inclined to trade futures so returns might be better.
Boeser has played himself to a mid pick and AAA prospect, I still think Minnesota, Jiricek and an exchange of picks, Minny 2nd for a Nux 4th.
Pettersson will get a lot more.
Miller less than EP but a lot more than BB
Enough that the core is altered and possibly the losing culture erased
Minnesota isn’t trading for boeser. David J who they traded everything for is off limits for them! They can’t even afford Boeser and they are going after a Center depth in Nelson or Gourde

He's not (though I see this as more of a compliment than you do, I think Suter is good).

But they're not getting a more valuable roster piece from anyone.
No, I really like Suter, and think he is worth more than others might think.

I’m not sure I believe this to be the case. I find it really hard Quinn dislikes JT.

DON'T LIGHT THE WEIRD MINNESOTA WILD FAN BAT SIGNAL
Aw man Joel Eriksson Ek would be a real nice get! I’m sure they’d like JT Miller.
