Never thought Hughes would touch Laine. With his contract, attitude and defense issues. Sounds like a Bergevin trade

It's us getting the 2ndDidn't want Laine... But tabarnac, against Harris and a second???? Sure!!!!!
was he saying we wouldn't trade for him?Engels is in shambles. Guess he's not as connected as we thought...
I'll take the risk only giving up Harris any day... and we get a 2nd too. Easy mode.
No, he was battling depression because of the passing of his father.Isn’t Laine an alcoholic? Who keeps getting traded?
They just used him lolwas he saying we wouldn't trade for him?
Again not sure if it's their own 2nd round pick but if so then more than likely top 40 so i don't think Harris was worth a top 40 more than likely a top 55ish from a sure to make the playoffs team so yeah Laine is a cap dump and even kind of negative value if the pick is Columbus own 2nd.Hold on. So the Habs get Laine plus a 2026 2nd for Harris instead of the Habs sending a 2026 2nd back to CBJ along with Harris. So Laine was a cap dump then.
Add this trade to the other August 19th trades in Habs history.
August 19, 2024 - Jordan Harris traded to Columbus Blue Jackets for Patrick Laine plus a 2026 2nd round pick.
August 19, 1994 - Guy Carbonneau traded to St. Louis Blues for Jim Montgomery
August 19, 1986 - Steve Penney and the rights to Jan Ingman traded to Winnipeg Jets for Brian Hayward
August 19, 1947 - Frank Eddolls and Buddy O'Connor traded to New York Rangers for Hal Laycoe, Joe Bell and George Robertson
Harris deserves respect and thanks. I hope he goes on to have a 1000 game career. Solid kid all around.I’m glad Harris gets a fresh start. He’s going to have a good career and there was a logjam here.
Would’ve liked a first for this. Other than that… meh. We’ll see how it goes but I don’t have high expectations.
