I believe what you're describing is just a small knife. He is a swiss army knife where every tool but the knife has been damaged

I don’t think those were Jets fans. Those posters are now over on the Habs boards complaining that he deserves better line mates and more ice time.Remember all the Laine > Matthews threads Jets fans used to make? Pepperidge farms remembers
Both huge disappointments for different reasons.Remember all the Laine > Matthews threads Jets fans used to make? Pepperidge farms remembers
He’s too slow and lazy IMO and definitely needs a line driving C. Dach has really let the Habs down and his injuries have compounded the issues. He’s not anyways good enough to be a line driver and he got into a bad mix in Montreal
Had missed a full calender year, you’d assume it’s going to take time to get back together and then he’s on the 2nd line with Dach who’s nowhere near 2nd line C in the NHL
The only way to get anything real out of him is if you have a legit 2C on your team and you can allow Laine to be a complimentary player to him
Of course we remember. TML fans relentlessly remind everyone.Remember all the Laine > Matthews threads Jets fans used to make? Pepperidge farms remembers
Those were from Laine fans, not Jets fans. Dude had the weirdest cult of supporters that just went way too far with the hypeRemember all the Laine > Matthews threads Jets fans used to make? Pepperidge farms remembers

This, plus his preexisting issues with skating make it even worse. He's just not physically able to do what he'd need to in order to be effective. Rehab to something useful should still be in the cards though.I think he’s injured (knee) and also not in good athletic condition. He seems very brittle.

I think the knee injury is also still a problem with Laine.
Well, Laine has still gone further than Matthews has ever been in the playoffs. He was dynamite that year and a big reason for the playoff success. Laine also was a big part of his IIHF U20 team winning gold. Matthews has never come up big when he needed to, and may go his entire career like that. Careful what you gloat over.Remember all the Laine > Matthews threads Jets fans used to make? Pepperidge farms remembers
I'm so glad that contingent is no longer on our boards. Holy hell were they annoying. Those were from Laine fans, not Jets fans. Dude had the weirdest cult of supporters that just went way too far with the hype
They're called Finns.
