Patrick O'Neal throws down with Mason and Ireland on lack of talk radio coverage

Wow, respect for Patrick. I completely agree, I don't watch ESPN or anything like that simply because they don't cover hockey at all. What's the point? The only sport I really care about is hockey... why would I tune into something that doesn't care about what I care about?
 
Never understood why people complained about Patrick. I remember back in 2011 he was interviewed on PMS and said how much him and his dad love the Kings. The guy's the real deal and I love his support. He was especially good during the 2012 parade.

ESPN LA is the absolute worst, trash, bottom of a barrel, god-forsaken-rubbish, horribad station I've ever heard in my life. They ****ing suck. It can't be overstated. And honestly, who the hell cares about boxing over local LA sports talk?

I enjoy AM 570 from an entertainment standpoint and they have great guests. Matt knows his stuff when it comes to the Kings and if he doesn't, he'll research.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. He's unbearable to listen to. I actually like Matt but Petros :shakehead! But Being that hockey is hockey and we are in LA I'm not surprised at the lack of exposure. The media here is by far the worst in covering Kings and hockey! Just look at all those pathetic mishaps in the news and in the media! Garbage!
 
The internet is great. I have Tunein radio on my phone and it's connected via bluetooth in my car so I listen to 1040, TSN 1200, and etc. I also get TSN 1, 2, CBC, RDS, and it's all I watch on my HTPC. Haven't watched ESPN sportscenter for more than a year. TSN Sportscenter (Sportscentre) is always on in my house here in SoCal. God praise the internets!
 
Can you guys tell me what episode this is exactly? I click that link and it just opens up the player....
 
I loved how right off the bat he came out swinging. I'm glad he gave it to Steve Mason for his work on Fox 11's terrible coverage of hockey. The apathy that station shows towards hockey is ridiculous and it comes across with every sports anchor .

Patrick O'Neal just went up many steps in my book, and he was already pretty high!

He didn't pull any punches and went straight after them. I haven't even tried to listed to any sports radio in LA in years because there's no puck.

There was actually more radio hockey talk when the Kings sucked.

Hacksaw is the only "recent" guy that I listened to - and that's been many years.
 
I live in Toronto and pretty much only listen to TSN1050 and it seems all they talk about is the Kings. The Jays are rolling, the Raptors did well this season, our tennis players are breaking through but I swear it's all Kings.
 
Throw me on the TSN 1050 bandwagon as well. They actually manage to talk about all four major NA sports, but obviously hockey gets a slight preferential treatment. The only downside is all the Leafs talk, but what makes it tolerable, especially now is how they all constantly wish the Leafs were built like the Kings.
 
O'Neal openly concedes that the Kings won't be receiving a whiff of coverage during the regular season due to the nature of the radio business. But his (justified) furor is directed at the fact that it took this long in one of the most exciting playoff runs ever in any sport for an eyebrow to be raised. Go Patrick!

You don't know me, Sharks fan. I am not angry. I am mostly bemused by it all. One must not assume someone is "angry" simply from their posts, or the way they phrase things. It is very dangerous.

Check out the basketball forum I built in 2002. It is still going weak after 12 years. I say weak because it mostly lost its fan base when I bailed out of its leadership 9 years ago due to a conflict with my job (or career, if one wants to get serious about it). I have no idea why it still exists but it does. Since you are a global moderator, you might cringe at what you see there. It is wide open and a lot of curse words are allowed (although I still drew the line at the more vulgar ones). If you thought I was a mad camper you ought to see the Neanderthals that post there.

Anyway, don't assume anything about me from my posts. I am mostly an easy going guy. Especially since we are so close to another title, I am quite happy these days. That doesn't mean I'm not going to have fun with some of these so-called experts if and when the time comes to do so.

You will have much more respect for both Mason and Ireland if you listen to Max Kellerman for just 5 minutes (if you can do so without blowing your brains out). That little arrogant clown thinks he knows everything. He can bore you to death if you are on a heroin high. And if you are coming down the high you will be absolutely suicidal listening to him. (Solution: don't shoot up between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., his time slot.)
 
as a european i find it a bit absurd. it's like being with a gorgeous chick & expecting an applause just for walking with her on a sunny day. respect is elsewhere.
 
Petros is an acquired taste. I couldn't stand the guy for a while, now his voice could even be considered soothing compared to most other talk radio out there.

I like their combo and think they do great interviews.
