Sign another aging star in Stamkos, keep Veleno, Fabbri, just make sure we won't see Kasper/Danielsson/Mazur/Berggren etc this season. Also don't forget to load D with Ghost and Trouba for AJo and Wallinder to spend another full season in Grand Rapids.

Why do we even draft players?
You want to play kids that don't deserve to play? They will all be at training camp. Earn a spot. Injuries happen. This team needs a major talent upgrade not just promoting our prospects just because...

I want kids that deserved their roster spots to play games with the big club and not being blocked by veteran signings. That was the case with Ed. That was/is the case with Berggren. That will be the case with Danielsson, Kasper, AJo and Wallinder this upcoming season.

Which hopefully leads to other great moves soon.
Yeah, I'd love to add Stamkos, but Detroit is now positioned where there other good targets they could chase even if they don't land him.

It's going to be a very interesting day.

But to be honest, I think he could sign all 3 of those guys and it doesn’t move the playoff needle very much. All three are out of their primes. Trouba was not good last year. NY wants him gone. Stammer and Kane are both power play specialists who I don’t think can play competitive 5on5 playoff caliber hockey anymore. We saw how much Kaner needs sheltered at even strength. Stammer is approaching that territory.

I’d honestly rather lean on our youth and either sink or swim than logjam our roster with average to slightly above average vets.

15 of Kane's 47 points were on the power play.

Honestly, you can't be upset about this. Only a one year deal, the cap hit is more than worth it. Our team is boring as hell without him.
Agreed.

Gives us long time die hards something to look forward to on a nightly basis.

This sucks. f***ing cant stand his face.

If random Twitter people are correct, if they’re met they count, but if over the cap they can move the bonuses to next year - so effectively, I think the number is 4m? Which is amazing?

That is correct. Base hits in 24-25, bonuses in 25-26.

Nice.

I was expecting 1-year with these 35+ bonuses all the time, but Yzerman gave quite a big 4M base salary for him. Why not going with 775k minimum base and 6M with bonuses.... but yeah.

Still happy, that Kane didn't leave.

So also Red Wings are having 1st overall player on roster. :)

Like last 16 NHL SC-winners or whatever it was... ;)

I hope they'll do same 1-year 35+ thing for Perron, but on smaller scale.

Glad he is back. Why only one year? Was hoping at least 2. Go get Stamkos next!

You can use those 35+ bonuses for only 1-year deals.

You can "buy" cap space from next year with a 1-year deal. You can't do that with a multi-year deal.

I hope this will be repeated every year, 1+1+1 year deal, depending how the health goes. Just slide the bonuses to future every year.

Yeah. It's hard to understand.

But that's their development program. Has been same forever.

Yzerman just said on the draft, that he is not planning to open a spot for kid at offence. No one seems to be NHL-ready.

But, if someone takes big strides at summer and has a great camp, they'll consider. You have to push people out. Like Larkin did, like Raymond did, like Seider did.

That's what he said. It's a clear vision.

I love how these were the exact same words from Ken Holland's mouth 10 years ago. :D The development plan is a carbon copy.

The 4 mil AAV with 50% retained, makes him easier to move at the trade deadline to a contender.

Smart play by Yzerman.

GREAT!!! Welcome back Kaner!

Now we sign Stammer, 1 year x 6 mil, he turns 35 in February and after the next season we re-sign him with similar deal what Kane got. Wings are so back baybay! Top-3 prospect pool and high end veterans, keep calm and trust the Yzerplan!

Compher/Copp(netfront)
Stamkos(wall) Larkin(slot) Kane(wall)
Seider

Compher/Copp(netfront)
DeBrincat(wall) Perron?(slot) Raymond(wall)
Edvinsson

Those PP units will do damage.

That sounds like a plan.

We have now space to add one 6M player (including Seider/Raymond/Berggren extensions) and then plug the holes with guys we had at last season or replace them with equal guys.

Like whom?
Like Roy or Pesce on defense for starters. I wasn't just limiting this to adding a forward, but consolation prizes in that department could include Debrusk or Lindholm, depending on the contract. There's even rumors of Detroit being one of the teams who might trade for Askarov in net.

Don't get me wrong, Stamkos is definitely the #1 option for offense, and by a wide margin. I'm just saying that Detroit could make any of several moves today to further improve the roster.

I posted around this time yesterday that it was the plan for Kane to stay. Too bad the staff locked it.
