Thats incorrect. LTIR would open cap but not enough nor would they be able to add Lindgren back in the playoffs due to contract limits

The Rangers without moving Goodrow would be required to play the remainder of this regular season with not one player in the press box.

Lets just say I doubt VERY much the Rangers are goingg to play another 24 games without a single backup on the team. One injury and you cant even play a game under CBA rules

Nor does the money work out if they dont move Goodrow. They dont get full cap relief with LTIR plus Kanes salary requires three contracts to go out, which isnt allowed since the Rangers would be under 20 contracts (which is the limit)

This injury negatively impacts this trade and the odds it happens now are slim to none. Kane is going to wallow in Chicago if he refuses anywhere but NY.

The fact his agent agrees to sitting him out only means that Kane is willing to waive his NMC for the Rangers.

It is a done deal.

My guess? With Lindgren LTIR, they now don't even need to trade roster players.

Kane for 2nd, Kravtsov, prospect.

A side deal with McCabe would be insane, but they first have to place Lindgren on LTIR, which is not done yet to my knowledge.

It’s not even about return honestly. Beloved franchise player with an expiring contract and a NMC. Dude is getting older and deserves a deep run for all he has done for the organization.
