Bergy in my opinion is one of the best leader in the history of the game period. He always played the game the right way, and he made damn sure that every player that played the Bruins would do the same. You can only have a ton of respect for Patrice Bergeron, he never took any shortcuts. So congratulation on Bergy for a tremendous career, enjoy your retirement Patrice and thank you.

Though not as big or decorated or prolific, he was the Hub’s version of Jean Beliveau, Le Gros Bill, the exquisite and unflappable Canadiens center who was all but beatified across his 20 years as part of the the Habs dynasty.
I've been saying this for years. He is the Beliveau of Boston, pure class, hockey royalty. Be grateful that it happened.

Any chance he pulls a mike fisher ?
Why would he marry a country singer when he already has a wife and four kids?:sarcasm::naughty:

I have learned to root for the sweater and not the player. The players always leave eventually, but this one.... hurts.
They are humans and so are we. I have watched Bergy for his entire career and just love the kid. He is an amazing hockey player and man.

There are a few players that I just like and cheer them on even if they play for another team.

Bergy will always be a favorite.

I'm glad Bergeron decided to retire while still at the top of his game. He has nothing left to prove, and while he didn't win another cup, he more than deserves a place in the rafters and a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame. I just hope that now, of all times, the Bruins can finally reset properly and plan for the future.

This might be the saddest day in my life as a Bruins fan. been watching this kid since he was 17 years old. he was a rock and a class act and the Bruins are going to miss his presense for a long long time because there will never be another that can fill his shoes.

I see your point however they are both winners!

I disagree with this sentiment. When the time is right....give me the Chara/Bergeron tandem GM team!!!
Why would he want this

Neely was a hockey god now if you are under 40 he’s a dummy

I don’t want Bergeron doing anything with Bruins other than being an Anbassador

Look no further than Bobby Clarke and Serge Savard and Bob Gainey - their fans turned on them

Yeah it’s possible Lucic slipped up when he said something about filling a leadership void. I think we all assumed Foligno since he had just been traded, but it’s possibly he knew.
He also said something about Marchand and Pasta are still here, and looking forward to playing with them. I don't know but it feels like there was a lot in that statement. I didn't say it at the time because I thought it was just an off the cuff remark but now......
For me, this feels a lot like when Bobby Orr left for the 'Hawks.
That dragged on until the day Orr finally did retire, not as a Bruin but as a Blackhawk.
We were fortunate enough to have had him here for 19 seasons.
He deserves so much more praise than we can give him.
Simply the best, he's earned the right to retire on top of his craft.
Via Con Dios Patrice.
