The McDoughnut price was too rich for my blood

Yeah there was no way we were getting him for a 1 and Will Butcher lol

Is it Devils’ 3rd or Ducks?

Wasn’t there a 3rd that came with Vatanen?

It has to be our third, the Ducks third is contingent on Henrique re-signing there so we don't have it yet.

Some pundits were talking about a 1st for Maroon, so I'm sure the thought of one Davies or Walsh crossed a lot of people's minds.

When it took forever to post the particulars of the deal (and not just cause HF sucks) I was getting worried it was one of the top guys.

I somehow suspect we're going to hear "goal mouth" a lot more from Steve now

If that's even possible

His game sounds like the yin to Grabner's yang. Glad the front office noticed that we needed 2nd and 3rd line forward depth. Give Bratt a couple nights off and let him find his game again, or start to use him as a specialist.

Great deadline by Ray. Doesn't overpay. Assures the team that they are thinking playoffs and long term at the same time. After the Elias ceremony, Nico's impressive rookie season and Hall's MVP form— this season is a success. Something that I think the team can build around for years to come.

When my brother texted me we traded for Maroon I was a little confused and scared at what we gave up. I figured Maroon would get a second and a prospect.

First I thought it would be a second plus, so I hated it. Then Friedman said a third and a prospect in the NCAA and I was scared I thought it would Anderson or Walsh.

Then he said Dudek and NEXT year's 3rd and immediately I smiled, because that's a really cheap price for a quality depth forward.

I seriously thought his inflated numbers from playing with McJesus would up the price but that's not bad at all. He'll help quite a bit. This basically bumps Hayes out forever and Stafford out most of the time. Hopefully he'll help on the PP too. Ray did very good this deadline.

I didn’t think we had any intention of keeping Maroon anyway, he seemed like a pure rental but that’s basically just talk and something a lot of guys say when they leave their teams via trade.

I like the move. Big guy for the front of the net on the PP who has some skill and ability there. We did need some size in the line up and he fits the bill. It will be a nice add overall i think.

Jesper does need a rest to re-charge his batteries. He's just been off lately and that was to be expected. Hischier on the other hand has elevated his game which is awesome to see.

This trade is great for our depth. We needed a player like Maroon who sounds similar to Miles Wood without the speed. We don't have enough guys that are in the right spots for rebounds and tips. Sounds like a pretty loyal guy who will drop the gloves and protect the young guys as well. Solid solid move by Ray.

I mean I'd probably want to play on McDavid's line my whole NHL career too.

Right...unless they make a deal or two in the summer there really isn't any room for him long-term anyway with MoJo coming back and other prospects a year or two away.

It's clear that ownership told Ray they wanted to make the playoffs this year, IMO. I mean, this is a great pickup at a cheap price, but I don't think we do this without some pushing from ownership (unlike Grabner, who I think Ray wanted regardless and is a prospective long-term investment).

We needed to add size and strength. Don’t be fooled, this guy can skate for a big man. Hayes and Stafford sit and we’ll see what happens to Bratt. More than not scoring lately he’s getting pushed around. In my opinion it’s more due to fatigue.

Oh I feel very confident Ray has directive from higher ups. That’s fine, I felt the moves were smart and calculated. I’m sure the ownership pressured him because of the $$$ involved BUT that means they’d be willing to spend more longterm if it meant more playoff revenue IMO. Just my 2 cents but I do think that is very real.

Good move. Team is desperate for grit and size. Maroon has good hands and adds a lot of strength to the lineup.

After these two moves, we officially have a playoff team assuming Cory can come back healthy. If he does and they still don’t make it, it will be a major disappointment. Not because of what was given up but just because this is a pretty good roster. Even more so if MJ can make it back.

Like Maroon a lot.

Now let's see how much he was dependent on McDavid. Good possession player and scores at a 2nd line rate on the 5 on 5. Can't complain about this move. If his point production remains similar here, I think he's arguably just as good and you can argue better than Grabner. That is if he keeps his current Points/60 up.
