This sound REALLY, REALLY worrisome.

It seems it didn't take too long to start the power struggle? :shakehead

Didn't he even say the new GM would have his choice?

What a sore-loser if true.

LaFontaine did quit Isles 40 days after Snow was hired by Wang and he had no input.

Idk too odd for this to happen after yesterday,

Something had to have happened yesterday in that trade to cause this.

I'm legitimately worried. My guess is he wanted Ryan re-signed.

This is going to make us look so bad I feel.

Hope_Smoke That's a weird situation in Buff. Rumours after LaFontaine took over that he wasn't interviewing candidates but picking brains for ideas on a how to run be a GM. Didn't want an experienced guy, wanted a young first-time GM that he could influence. McKenzie always shot down these suggestions and kept reiterating that LaFontaine was just being methodical in his search...beginning to sound like those rumours may have been true.

Just a blogger, but followed and frequently RT'd by legit people, and makes a good point.

Tim and Bryan Murray had this master plan all along...

1. Tim get hired as Sabres GM
2. Trade away Miller and Ott
3. Quit the next day and be rehired by the Sens
4. Profit

Even if Pat leaves, I'm not the least bit worried. We have a solid GM, a willing owner and a scouting department with a solid track record. Pat is the least important piece of the equation at this stage IMHO.

This will be more of a black eye for Lafontaine than it is for Sabres.

I agree with you for the most part.

He seemed excited to be here and was going to be an important figure head though.

If it is LaFontaine, how long has he held his positions in the NYI and BUF front offices? Not very long I'd imagine.

Didn't Lafontaine say when he came in that it was temporary? Or am I way off on that?

No, absolutely not.

He did say that he will recede into the background once the GM is in place, and that the GM will be the face of hockey operations with the media. It does not surprise me at all that LaFontaine didn't do the press conference, because that's Murray's job.

This has to be over Nolan. Im going to guess Nolan out as soon as Patty is out.

Be concerned if he trades Myers to the Senators first.

Something doesn't make sense.

In the latest BB&G episode LaLa explicitly said that Murray is determined and sharp guy who is not afraid to make his opinion to be known. And that's exactly the impression you get about him. Not exactly the smartest choice to try to influence?

I also wonder if it is over Nolan. However, I could have swore I heard Murray tell the media a couple of days ago they were talking extension with Nolan.

Maybe they only offered him one year? :naughty:
