Laval Rocket: Pascal Vincent Named Laval Rocket Head Coach

I'm not a Vinny fan and if we lose this series, I'm vindicated...but i rather be wrong.

Reason is simple. The team was loaded and even a blind mouse can lesd a loaded team. Bit we have met our match and this is whete coaching will seperste us.

Or not.

He needs to fire up the boys to bring it up to the next level or we are going to join the bowling league. ..

People crapping on Vincent do not have hockey opinions worth consideration.

Such low hanging fruit for the mob to use as their little scapegoat, as opposed to actually learning and understanding the game itself.

Such low hanging fruit for the fafan to use as their little excuses for him not being responsible for his bad decisions and consistently over reliance on his srubby veterans, as opposed to actually learning and understanding the game and players development itself.

Oh you're doing your Houle talk from last years with Vincent now?

HOULE WAS A BERGEVIN GUYS.
GET HIM OUTTTTT

Dude, i know you love'em & it nice to see
but sometime the next coach coming gonna have great concept.
I swear.

If you have the choice, would you give a second chance to PV, or would you move on to find a new coach for the future?

I'd keep him. His work has been largely good.. he just fumbled the playoffs, especially the goaltending rotation and overreliance on vets who aren't doing anything.

There isn't really an emerging candidate from the Q right now that has a lot of heat that we might lose to another organization, so it makes sense to bide our time.

He also seems to have helped several prospects evolve very well.

Team won the President trophy, best ever result with the Rocket and not even close, and lost in the semi-finals, but Vincent is crap? Because that team supposedly was loaded with awesome players?? I certainly don't think they are that awesome. I think most of our prospects are highly overated, very very much in fact, or too young yet to be truly effective. But maybe if you think differently, maybe the "fefan" is <gasp> you... I think Vincent obtained great results with a team that is truly not that great.

Did he make bad decisions, yes, especially with the goalies. But to paraphrase some guy from 2000 years ago, "if you are a coach who never made any mistakes, please come forward."

I can't speak to the job the current D coach is doing but I think he would be great to coach the defense for the Habs.

For Laval I would prefer they find someone young, perhaps that coach from the Q that they was rumored before Vincent got the job.

I don't see why though. How did we finish first overall? Who was our offensive dynamos we had in the line up? Certainly not Beck, certainly not Roy. Maybe our D make us unbeatable? Mailloux is laughed at here with his brain dead decisions, RB missed the entire season, Trudeau can't even get a tryout upstairs, there was Engstrom... Or maybe it was the goalie? Oh wait, it was Primeau half the season, a goalie nobody wants to see with us anymore, not good enough etc.

So if it was not the forwards, not the Ds, not the goalie, well then can we admit that Vincent did a fantastic job?

Vincent is a great coach and deserves alot of credit for an amazing season. I watch 95% of Laval games, have done so for about 5 years and this season was an absolute blast. Props to John Sedgewick for bringing in several solid vets as well.

I'd go that route too.

the defensive structure and goaltending along with being the most physical team in the league and they worked hard is what got them to be the top regular season team. Keep in mind that the AHL doesn't have a lot of cross over games, so most of their games are in their own division, they did have a bunch vs the Atlantic division but it's not like they play Hershey much and I don't think they played the Checkers at all and of course they don't play any vs the central or pacific divisions.

He did a great job in some areas for sure, which is why I would promote him to the NHL assistant coach job but for me I think he's too old school with some of his decisions so I would rather the AHL coach be younger.

That playoff run could be seen as such by some (and to be answered here, you need to toss some drama ...!)

It's disappointing how the conference finals has been going, but I don't think anyone has a solid case of why it should be considered a failure.

You would have made a poll before the season and the majority would have predicted a worse season.

It would be very surprising if Vincent isn't back next year (unless of course he gets a NHL job).
