Yeah it's kind of sad. But even when the economy was better, the tickets were much lower in price.

I get what the Oilers have done and from a profitability standpoint, whatever, it makes sense. Over the last few years the resale market has just been insanity. So all they did was close that gap so it's the Oilers bringing in the cash and not third party sellers.

But this is getting absurd.
100%.
In the mid 80's I used to go to games on a whim. I would stand outside of Northlands Coleseum and pick up a scalped ticket in the mid to low Blues for about $30 to watch the best hockey team on the planet.
Now even if we factor in inflation these current ticket prices are nothing short of gouging.
They can get away with it though....the demand is there....for now.

What, where are you seeing this? I can go online and buy lower bowl 15 rows up for $300 USD in Dallas.

Can still grab tickets to the NYR game tonight for $500 USD.

Oil have the most expensive tickets out of any team left in the post season.
This was according to TicketIQ. You really think tonight’s game isn’t sold out and you can get a ticket at that price??
Good luck.

We're finally paying the price for the insanity of the secondary market.

In 2022 my playoff seats were about 40% cheaper AND I had the opportunity to buy a second pair of seats for the entirety of the playoffs. Result? STH's bought up another pair and flipped them for 100%+ mark up resulting in pretty much no availability at face value. They quickly changed that, and to be honest I can't blame them for it. Building will still very likely sell out and they get to take home 3/4X the revenue.

Having said this - it is not fair that season ticket holders that pay a ton of money through the year to get playoff access get raked over the coals like this. Simple solution - offer STH's a lower price, but make their tickets completely non-transferrable. Rewards the people that legitimately want to go themselves, while taking some margin away from those that are only there to buy and sell.
At $400 a seat face value I'm gonna have to hard pass on going. I have a pretty good paying job and so does my wife....and we can't justify spending 800-1k for a night out.

Games are increasingly becoming for the top earners. Unfortunate but that's where its gone.

I'd be annoyed if I was a season seat holder, as they keep pushing playoff ticket access being the big reason to buy but they're pretty widely available

Kind of off topic a bit, but this is absolute gouging by the Oilers in terms of ticket prices.

We have a half season set, and we get our tickets for this round for I believe $360. Seat beside us on retail is $500. We're 2nd row in the upper.

I remember when you used to have to frantically get in queue to get these tickets and if you were lucky you may be able to snag a set on limited release.

30% of the building is still unsold as of this morning it looks like. Would be an absolute joke to not have it sold out because of this crap. 2 people having to fork out $1000 just to get into the building for upper bowl tickets is absolutely insane.

Agree they are nutso expensive but I found our prices are no different than anywhere else.

In Dallas I was going to buy tickets and go and checked prices yesterday. Non-Resale tickets lower bowl were $575 each US - this is non resale. That’s 750 Canadian after TM fees. Upper bowl was 750 US a pair that’s a $1000 for a pair and not resale. Dallas isn’t even a hockey market.

I just checked TM most of our building is sold out and the game will be a sellout. Resale tickets can be sold at whatever price you list them for. If someone wants to pay a ticket holder $1000 for a pair of tickets then good on them. Tickets at the end are worth whatever one is willing to pay.

It’s crazy but it’s no different in Dallas or New York. Maybe Florida it’s not as nuts.

We have a lot of good players too. Should be a good series
Oilers better high end talent, and Stars have it more spread out. Their top 10 is mediocre in terms of scoring. No player over 90 points, most in the 50-67 point range. Playoff are different so it's playing as a unit + great defense.

You can literally go on Ticketmaster and buy the tickets. Standard price, not resale.

I'd figure you'd at least check Ticketmaster before posting this. Lol.

Standard admission to the stars game, tickets available for $125 USD. Not even in the same ballpark as Oilers tickets.

This was a large reason I bought season seats. Calculus was if I get season seats, sell/share some of them, and then get playoff access I win no matter what. I get playoff tickets for far cheaper than I would on the market (when they used to be essentially totally unavailable for the public), get the seat I want, and probably still save $ or spend about the same overall with the added bonus of going to more regular season games.

At this point, the only real win will likely be if we make the Finals. My seats are $474 per game for the finals, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see about a $1k price point to get in the door at that point, and if we were so lucky to get a clinching game at home then double that maybe. Definitely haven't won so far though.
