To me he looks slow in the net and he’s either trying to catch up or to anticipate the play.

Auston Matthews is *checks notes* first in goals since 2017, and first this year, and he's the 18th best player in the league, and he was a defensive beast as well tonight. He's handsome and has some charisma but I hate the Connor Bedard Hyundai commercial.

Mo was once again the best D on the ice, on either team, but Werenski is pretty damn good - hell of a puckhandler, and Jiricek(?) will be solid but looked much better in the 1st than the 2nd and 3rd. Liljegren's name came up rarely which is what you want from a second-pair guy.

Like the look of CBJ's Russian line - gritty guys who go into the nasty areas, too many 'Ovs' though - get the f*** ov my scene.

I thought Cole SIllinger was going to be a star, but I got him confused with Mason McTavish.

Hope Kuraly was okay, I just f***ed up my shoulder and didn't get hit with a puck right after, nasty scene and hope he recovers.

Justin Danforth is from Scarborough...that shouldn't be allowed. He should change his name to Justin Bluffs but that sounds like a porn star name.

Who even watches these shows on CBC Gem? 'What if...we put a straight white male, with a minority, probably Indian female and made them bitcoin thieves? Watch 'Bitcoin Biters’, on CBC Gem!'. Don't even start me on the PWHL and the 2 mil in ad space they buy for Leafs games.

What a bullshit sequence of back-to-back penalties in the 3rd, the Gregor one okay, but that high stick was on the way down. Manage the game without managing the game. I want someone like Torts to call out how dogshit the refs in the league are and then pay the fine in change. Throw it on the ground, Bettman will pick up every last coin.

Overall nice win though - never in doubt. A game I'm glad I was up for (even if I was up all last night partying).

It’s amazing what solid goaltending can do. It can mask defensive deficiencies like giveaways and poor positional play. The team is lucky to have the elite talent it has. A coaching change is needed to take the next step.

First line looks as you expect with marner going the second line got better as the game along that third line as is isn’t good enough we need an advantage or atleast be able to neutralize 4th line solid , pairs were decent laggy would be the one I take out if I were thinking that not that I am
 
Jones looks good. Steady movement. Tracks the puck well. I have the feeling him and Woll vibe with the Leafs style of play. Small sample size but its a good sign.

Freddy was pretty good, but always had his random leaks in big moments.
SO FAR...

Woll and Jones have come up big in clutch moments.

Sammy is looking like Murray when he imploded. Not good

Tavares highlight reel was TOP.
Matthews signature snipe is back!!
Marner being silky smooth.

Nylander being Nylander. Zone to Zone, a deke and top shelf snipe

Bruins are on a losing streak... a few more wins and we are...

In theory I agree with you. Their play however the rest of that game says otherwise.

That should be this teams only focus after the break. Enough losing to shit teams. We’d have 6 extra points if we won our games against the bottom 5 teams in the league. That would put us ahead of Boston with a game in hand if we just took care of business.

Instead we are 1-2-2 against the bottom 5 teams in the league.

They need a team like Washington, maybe Detroit, that might be prone to defensive mistakes. The first two Leafs goals last night don’t happen very often in the playoffs, and they don’t create PP opportunities, so they’ll need a team that might help them with puck luck.

Detroit would be the ideal first round opponent, but any of the Islanders, Capitals, Lightning or Hurricane would be great. The Leafs are well-suited to play those types of teams, no matter who they have in net. The Leafs continue to have an easy schedule until the end of January, so they should be able to bank some points to stay ahead of Boston before the schedule gets a bit more difficult.

Canes are soft and are not a Cup threat either, but if they get goaltending they would not be a good matchup with their speed and D.

Is there a noticeable difference in chances for Sammy v. the other two? I haven't looked individually just occasionally monitoring the season stats

Wonder what the record is for most multi goal games in a season is?

It can’t be much farther than where Auston is this season… with less than 30 games played.

When you let teams back in or give them momentum, then they press, we do it, they do it, which is why his horrific numbers probably translate into more chances too. Would be interesting to see.

Re-watched last night highlights, 28 seconds in we give up a glaring chance, Jones makes a big save. Stuff like that is so key.
