do none of the BOG members have the weather app on their phones?
This is 2024. There's technology and stuff.

The biggest weather issue would be rain (which, in fairness, is a near daily occurrence for at least a bit in the afternoon in Miami).

Temperature shouldn't really be a problem.
There's a roof on that stadium.

Marlins Park has a retractable roof but if it's not retracted it's just like the Lightning playing at the trop 30 years ago and not an outdoor game.

You keep the roof closed while you're putting the ice surface in place and then retract the roof before the game, which makes it much easier to make sure you have a good playing surface. Also, in the event of an emergency, like a torrential downpour or lightning, the roof can be retracted and the game can proceed.

I think that in any but the worst weather scenarios they’re more likely to just delay the game than play under a roof. Pushing puck drop back an hour to let a rainstorm pass isn’t that big of a deal.

Do people still care about these outdoor games? The gimmick has long since run its course.

For the fans whose teams haven’t been pampered with these for 15 years, they’re still a lot of fun and a great rallying point for hockey locally. Same can be said of the ASG which is also a gimmick and also an awesome local experience.

I mean I get that but that's just how the NHL works. They're so scared of non-core markets. I pretty much guarantee that this game will be saddled with one of Gary's babies.
