Yeah the Sabres are where we are, except like, lagging behind by ten years. In that case, they could win a cup in another ten years, so there's that.

It's got to be brutal to be a fan of that team. First drafting Eichel, then having to trade him and I don't think there's any doubt Dahlin would've developed to a much better player in some other organization by now. Both of these guys were considered close to generational talent when drafted.

Also personal opinion but I think they completely destroyed Ristolainen's development, he became half the player what people thought he would become when he was drafted. And that goes back to 2013. Just goes to show how a badly run organization can keep spinning wheels forever no matter what kind of talent they get.

Good little statement game by the Panthers. They showed up ready to play. You know the Sabres were playing like it's their Stanley Cup. So it's good to see the Panthers still control the play. The Panthers got a little cute at times, but they cleaned it up towards the end of the game. Barkov with a nice 2 point return game. Keep the train rolling.

Some really good players in that list.

Incredible they couldn't make it work with that kind of talent at their disposal.

Props to President Matt Caldwell for that, he led the GM search. The crazy thing is, the Oilers and Flyers both interviewed him before that, and they went with Holland and Fletcher lol. We were due for some luck after all those years
I think Buffalo passed on him before hiring Botterill. Maybe it was before their current GM Adams, who replaced botterill idk.
Imagine if Buffalo would’ve hired the wizard yoiks

No no no no

Gotta start with Buffalo first. Botterill got the job.

Then Philly in 2018

Then the Oilers one is gold.

Zito interviewed with them in 2019

But

And Holland was hired without an interview

I like the idea, but Luosty for Tikkanen. Tik was past his prime with us. That line would dominate other 2nd/ 3rd lines. Peltonen was a great complimentary player and would actually allow Lundy and Luosty to lean more toward offense.
I am a huge Luosty fan - I am happy that we are sharing the same jersey number, and I admire his way of playing hockey, giving it his all each time he touches the ice and being one of the best defensive forwards we ever had - no wonder he was on the ice with Barky and Reino closing out games. So I agree with you.

But Esa clearly wins due to the insanity factor (I was more going for the entertainment factor with this line suggestion than actual playing success)
