Yes, hes playing against great players but he is supposed to be a great player as well. This is not the only game this has happened.

I know hes going to be a top tier player but last night wasnt good enough. Its starting to happen more and more.
He's 19. He's the second youngest player in the NHL. And he's playing with guys who realistically aren't sniffing more than the 4th line on any playoff team in the NHL. What exactly do you expect him to do? Dangle through one of the best lines and best D pairings in the NHL, all on his own, for an entire game?

Yes, and its not good enough to get 3 shots in 4 games no matter who hes with.
You can put any top tier player in the NHL on a line with 4th line scrubs, and they will struggle to make things happen by themselves. You can put McDavid with Anderson and Dickinson, and he would struggle. Because hockey isn't a sport where a single player can go up against 5. Especially 5 of the best in the NHL. This isn't the NBA.

He was playing with a third line center, and a guy who belongs in the AHL, against a perennial Selke candidate and the defending Stanley Cup champion's top pairing.... They never had the f***ing puck.

Well aware. Doesn't make the roster or coaching decision to put him in that situation any less frustrating.

Yea I dont think its good enough from him. I understand hes in a bad spot but hes doing absolutely nothing. Zeros across the board while turning it over and losing coverage in the d zone and getting manhandled on the boards.

There was complaining with a team up 1-0 and thensome. That's literally all this roster can be. And it's with young guys in defensive roles, Bedard out with a lead late. Things people complained about last year... when there was no need to rush that. Now is a more apt time for that when you have patentice.

Every shift of vlasic, allen, or kaiser making some plays, breaking up chances and pushing the pick out is excitement to me, because that's what the future and success is built upon.
Yeah but then the usual suspect(s) can't criticize Luke, don't you see. Anyone who thinks we could beat Panthers by outscoring them in a wide open game should know better, and does know better but it doesn't fit into the agenda.

That said: if Hawks insist on keeping Joey in the line-up, at the very least, can we take him off of Bedard's line..... please.

Criticism of Richardson's dumbass decisions was well-earned by him last night.

So only you can pick and choose what to criticize? Seems like you think you are the coaching genius here lol

Yeah. Shame.... that the team effectively controlled the neutral zone and stiflled the Panther's shooters. Exactly what is needed with the current line-up.

Let's face it, you and several others will always diss the coach, no matter that Hawks win, no matter that they frustrated and didn't allow a talented ops team to play their game and in doing so defeated the defending SC champs.

There are quite a few holes in the line-up but there are also positives you know: Reichel has improved somewhat and is playing regularly after earning his ice time. Allan is playing like a veteran at 21. Kaiser hasn't been bad either and Vlasic is looking more like a budding #1 dman as time goes by. Hawks goaltending has been stellar. The team has responded quite well to Seth going down with injury. Why can't some of the positives be discussed?

Oh, I see. You like Andersen on the first line. Bedard had exactly 0 shot attempts last night. Probably the first time as a Blackhawk.
What? lol Of course its a stupid move, along with playing Bedard against Barkov line all game (hmm, maybe that's why Bedard didn't have any SOG)? The point was, you pick and choose what you don't like from a coaching perspective, but when other people pick and choose what they dont like, you have a problem with them complaining about it?

You can pick whatever positives you want, how few there are. But, the most important player on the team is a huge negative right now, but Im sure that has nothing to do with the coach in your eyes, right?

No. Not at all. But when the f***ing coach purposely lines up his only offensive star against a perennial Selke candidate, one of the best lines in the NHL, and the top pairing D of the defending SC Champs, that decision should be criticized and questioned. Especially when he has last change at home. It's a braindead decision that I'm not surprised to see him make, considering he comes off like he has the intelligence of a potato.

Bedard had zero shot attempts because Luke matched him up against one of the best defensive forwards in the world.

And yet somehow you continue to not see Luke as a problem.

Yes, thats stupid everyone agrees. Bedard should not be intentionally matched against Barkov's line. Bedard still should be able to do something in the 20 min of ice time. Two things can be true. Hes saying it himself.

He should be. Everyone has bad games. He's admitting that he needs to do more.

That said, his coach didn't do him any favors, particularly for a player who has been slumping. Yes, the two things can be true, but the bigger impact is the matchup that the dumbass coach specifically chose for his slumping superstar.

Even average intelligence would suggest that if your star is slumping, you do everything in your power to dig him out of that slump. You give him weak matchups by getting him out against 3rd and 4th lines, and bottom pairing D pairs, ESPECIALLY at home, when you have last change.

72 played well

I watched 44 closely, something has happened to his skating, not as dynamic. Even when covering the slot he does not move well, like his hips are locked or something going on.

73 had 3 chances to make a with the puck on his stick . He only tried on the one where he went to the backhand and slid one through the crease.

I actually thought that was one of the best games iv seen Vlasic play. He was great.

Besides that game earlier in the year where he was prime Hedman**

The Hawks, the worst team in the league, beat the reigning Stanley Cup Champs and people have the frickin' nerve to complain about how its done......some of the people on this board need to up their meds.

I mean... it was an absolutely ugly game that they really had no business winning. Mrazek is probably the sole reason they did win it. I don't see anyone complaining about the win, just discussing aspects of it.

I had fun. Hawks won. Mrazek is a great goalie when his team sucks. Glad to see Turbo and Bertuzzi hit the score sheet.

I don't hate letting Bedard see some ice against Barkov as a coaching tool like this is the best of the best get your teeth kicked in and learn from it in a lost season but the entire game? Like give the kid some looks away from Sasha.

The Steve Larmer Blackhawk Legend Night was disappointingly low key. One of my all time faves, rarely a bad shift and NEVER saw him have a bad game.
I had no clue it was Steve Larmer Legend Night last night. The telecast did show Larmer talking with Foley in a box which may have been the highlight of the game.
