Post-Game Talk: Panthers at Rangers

Ah... The ups and downs of being a Ranger fan. Way more downs than ups. Why do we do this to ourselves? I'm going to join a hot yoga class instead.
 
Am I frustrated? Yes.

Am I beginning to worry? Slightly.

Do I think it's time to panic? Absolutely not.


Hopefully losing to an AHL team gives them a kick in the ass and they go out and demolish the Caps on Sunday. And hopefully Biron is in net, because I'm tired of Lundqvist giving up 2 bad goals every game.
 
Yay!! Random Devils and Flyers fans browsing the thread. Must be enjoying it.

The Senators are missing half their team. Yet they can still make better passes than the Rangers. Why did Torts not juggle the lines this time around?
 
12 Days to the deadline.
6 Games to play in that time.
Devs won tonight.

Can't believe this team is where it is right now?


Maloney has started to call out Tortorella a bit. Talked about the system recently. Grinding vs playmaking etc.

Sounds like Kennan just called out Torts also. I didn't see what he said, just reading this thread.

Now Henrik is calling out the offense. Or is he calling out the system itself?

Is Torts losing the room?

Earlier in the season I believe Rupp called out Torts. Or at least I think I read that here. He was immediately traded. Certainly not trading Lundqvist. Not firing Maloney. I don't even know what Keenan does. I think hes on happy pills.

Bottomline...Team isn't where it should be. Coach or players?

Just be aware of the flatulence that is let loose. If it's stinkier than the product that's on MSG ice, that's debatable, but be warned.

We had the looks but couldn't capitalize. I can think of at least 2 pucks that floated to the slot but nobody was there to take the shot.

The Garden was dead. It was another horrible game to be at.

Sure, they lost. Not many figured they would be there at all. They
lost to a better team.

I think Sutter is a good coach.
 
Also, if you would have told me 3 weeks ago that the Rangers would get a 40+ shots on a 3rd game in 4 day sequence I would have laughed at you. I'll be a optimist and think that is just an outlier stat.

I agree with most here that there were only a sprinkling of shots that mattered, most were just routine stand still and stop them for Markstrom.

I like how every crushing/demoralizing loss is supposed to be the Rangers' wake up call. They've had about 15 wake up calls this season. I bet people are going to be saying "Well the season's over and we didn't make playoffs/got swept in the first round..Should be a real wake up call for the team."

They, somehow, can't use a period of uninspired hockey as their wake up call while the game is still going on. It always seems to be after the game has concluded and the Rangers have been completely walked all over that the game as a whole should be a wake up call. I think they need a new alarm, because Torts can't wake them up.
 
My fear is that since Richards suddenly isn't a 1C, our window to contend was last year and now we're done.

Stepan-Miller-Boyle? Please god, no. Awful center depth.

I agree. This won't be a wakeup call. It will be a season of inconsistency and mediocrity. Nothing has changed.

Richards was a very poor man's 1C last year and his game has deteriorated even further. I say he's an above average 2nd line player now. Similar to Gomez in his Rangers tenure.

Enough said.

I mean, a while back I said that the Rangers had a lot of personnel come and go for one reason or another because of Torts. What kind of players does Torts need to succeed? It's not more grinders. It's not more offensive players.

How much more slack does Sather or Dolan need to give Torts?
 
We are 29th in GPG.

With this roster, that it unacceptable.

We are 28th on PP percentage. Also unacceptable.

This BS "system" of "we don't coach offense" has to be thrown out of the window.

Richards was a beast in the playoffs, which is what I expected him to be like this year.
