Florida and Tampa are both quick enough to break up any cycling in their zone. I think we need to simplify and get bodies and shots to the net in those games. We had lots of o zone time but only took 5 shots in the first 25 mins or so. The rest was passing until we lost possession.

Just need to change game plans for these types of teams. As Jet said, this is happening early and allowing us the rest of the season to strategize for these types of teams.

Id rather have a game like this against the guys who won the cup 5 months ago. If we put on this performance against montreal i'd be worried.

Need to figure out the Negative Posts per Loss (NP/L). As my spreadsheet indicates, the rate of NP has...

Nah I think people are just a bit deflated after the wild ride to 15-1.
Well, you'll never see me posting negatively after a loss. Anyway, gotta go... left the car running...

Maybe time for some Ville if he's back in gameshape. Jets have bounced back very strong after the last two times they played poor games. Expect a much better game on Tuesday.

I agree. If Stanley is out for an extended time then give him a run of games. Our third pairing has had trouble moving the puck lately and imo I think Miller needs a partner who does most of the heavy load in that regard. We need to see if that element of Ville's game can translate.

We also need DeMelo to get his game on track. I think JoMo is trying to do too much as a result and it's impacting his performance as well.

As much as anyone would like to use any one other than Morrissey himself as an excuse, 2 goals I watched last night had nothing to do with Demelo's play. It was more of Morrissey getting caught puck watching more than anything.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure any of these 3rd pairing guys are going to make much of a difference - moving the puck out of our end wasn't a problem during the winning streak.
Staying out of trouble in our zone will continue to rely on a team d effort - that has slipped a bit in the last couple of game.
Team looked tired - maybe they are. But we'll need to get back to the speed game before we see the results we were seeing - with or without Ville.

IMO, our d in general have struggled in our end the last couple of games - without more support from the guys up front, they'll struggle.
But I agree that Ville needs a look - but only because we need to see what he has to offer and it's his turn - hopefully he's ready soon.

Morissey looked like he was getting the hell beat out of him. Did fla look to you guys like they were focusing on him?
Ya, the good teams hammer out best players whenever they can.

In Tampa 55 got smoked at the blue line without the puck. Imagine doing that to Matthews or McDavid.

We had big turnovers in the Florida games, and Colorado, and we aren't good at making plays in tight physical games. The Leafs, avalanche, Tampa and FL all did that successfully.

Our D is showing cracks; DeMelo is slow and not a great puck mover, Pionk is offensive but has defensive lapses.

Our response is key. Still an incredible record. Florida just lost 2 in a Row before this game.

Ya, 44 has been carrying DeMelo for a long time. Our right side is a little weak

I'm talking in general for the year. JoMo wasn't good last night and on that Short handed goal against he got caught napping.

De Melo pacing for 14 points this year. Luckily Colin Miller is more in line with De Melo's production last year. And Pionk is having a career year.

This is the Jets first road trip this year against teams that look like playoff teams. No offense to Edmonton or Calgary. But the home teams on this trip all brought something that the Jets haven't really seen yet. Big, physical, drive to the net hockey.

They played poorly against Tampa...was yesterday's game a game where they bounced back strong?

Florida played a strong game - no doubt about that . But I suggest that the Jets were the architects of their own demise -poor puck management and execution cost them dearly. Many forwards relapsed into poor positional play and half hearted puck battles along the boards. Many were frequently on the wrong side of the puck altogether (Scheiffele are you listening) looking for offensive opportunities that never came. It seemed to me that nearly each one of the Florida goals was preceeded by a poor play or breakdown by a Jet rather than a great play by the Panther.

The upside here is that this type of game can be eliminated by the following game. It will be interesting to see the rematch for sure.

That may be true - but riddle me this. Why is it that we look to insert Heinola for "his opportunity" at a time when the Jets are playing a physical direct, hard fore-checking team that is admittedly our kryptonite, AND, usually at a point in time where the team has lost it`s confidence /commitment to sound hockey and has started to struggle?

I don't think he is needed in the lineup - but I do think the org needs to determine if he's progressed.
And you don't need to slot him in against Florida - I'd give him a game against a lesser opponent and go from there.

If Heinola when healthy can't break into this lineup with a guy the Jets didn't play in the playoffs a cast off free agent and a guy who is tall and still is a work in progress then it might be time for a change of scenery. I'm a big fan of his but how much longer can you wait to get in the lineup and stay healthy.

Ah well, f*** it.

The Fla trip is a fun throwback to the old SE division days tho, GST, GST! Lol.

Let's go win a Grey Cup! LFG!
I do think anyone in the Simcoe area even knows there's a football game today. I am so heartily sick of hearing about Taylor Swift that I almost miss the days when all the hallway small talk was about Auston's injury status.

Almost.

I thought that hip check by Pionk was legit last night and I stand by it today, don't care what talking heads on SN had to say about time of the game. The game ends at the final buzzer
I think it was border line - very close to a clip. If it wasn't a Jet, I'd be calling it dirty.
And the league agrees based on the fine he received

In one of the highlights packs I watched, there's one Jets goal replayed from the other end of the rink and you can clearly see 55 stops skating at centre ice and just glides behind the puck carrier.

Better a fine he won't even notice than a suspension which we'll all notice on the ice.
