That's me in the corner
Saad better be working his ass out all off season and honing his skills. Because he didn’t break many sweats this season.

Terrible hyperbole.

Does he need to finish more? Absolutely!

Despite the bad offensive production, he still generated the third most high-danger chances among Blackhawks forwards. Based on his underlying stats, he has a really high chance of correcting back to being a 50-60 point winger.

Does he need to work on his shot so his shooting percentage is not in the gutter? Yep. Did he float a bit this year? Yep. I stand by that statement. He needs to be better all around.

Remember when Saad scored like 7 goals in the first 10 games and everyone thought he hit a new level?

*sigh*

Saying Saad generated the 3rd most high danger chances on a roster like this is saying he was the third best badminton player on the short bus.
The roster is bad, the young guys are mediocre at best except for Debrincat. The core is old, getting older, unproductive and over paid. We have 4 contracts that are strapping the team and the only one who's arguably worth the price is Kane. That's not counting Hossa.

Even if Saad got back to a low 50 pt. player which is his career best 3 times he's nowhere near as good as Panarin. He's not even in the same league. I don't care how you try to gloss this one over it was one of the worst trades the Blackhawks ever made and will haunt them for years to come. It's amazing anyone here would think this is still an OK trade.

No one's saying it was "an OK trade". Don't put words in our mouths.

Hot take...

Saad having a bad season makes trading AP burn but after next season it would of burned a lot more when AP walked for nothing. The Hawks were not winning the cup this season with AP.

This is the view I don't get. You get the team is getting old and overpaid...

Exactly why if Panarin was on this season's team right now that fear would be huge. He's in line for arguing for more than 8mil at a base and they would have to trade him or risk having more high end deals by selling off great assets to move seabs or something similar.

I don't mind trading him, but the return was bogus. Stan caved into the 'former Blackhawk' meme, that already failed with Ladd.

Should have returned a 2nd line forward and top 4 D-man...

Bold: You are dreaming.

Saad is a top 6 forward and not close to the former blackhawk meme you are claiming. He had a shit season but the return at the time was solid.

No it wasn't. Stan clearly overpaid to bring back a 'former' Hawk.

Saad until this season was a 50+point player who played a great two-way game. He is in his mid-20's. This is nothing like Ladd (TD deal) or Sharp. Saad for Panarin was a solid deal when it was made based on the best analysts and other who know the game (Bobby Mac, etc.).

Saad was a 50pt two-way forward that was signed for twice as long as Panarin. They also had very comparable even strength numbers in the 15-16 and 16-17 seasons.

The big seperating facrot was supposed to be the PP (where Saad sucked at). Unfortunately Panarin ended up having a bit more in him then he showed last year (he now looks like a stronger and more confidant version of his 15-16 self, instead of the Ovi lite he was like last year) and Saad had his worst season in his entire career.

Shit sucks, but bitching and complaining like crazy about it makes some of you look unhinged...

Brandon Saad is the most overrated 'two-way' player.

Guy barely got utilized on the PK in Columbus with Torts.

Spent his years in Chicago beside Selke Winner Jonathan Toews and best defensive winger of the decade Marian Hossa.

Panarin this year, has been 2x better defensively, just insane. Even this game alone shows, his defense is amazing.

Panarin gets 43% of the BJs total offensive zone draws. He is not bad defensively but you claim his D is amazing....hot take.

AP is a great offensive player and we all miss him but good god you are unhinged and illogical about this topic.

In hindsight, Stan got fleeced. However, did you ever applaud Stan for finding and signing Panarin? At some point, people get tired of the schtick. Sometimes you have to tell the truth to get credibility. Otherwise you get eaten by the big bad wolf.
