Right and if we want a winning culture we are going to need all the leadership we can get for the next 20 games. We simply should not tank the rest of the season or give any nudge in that direction.

I would have rather had a package of 2nd and a meh prospect for just Palms. Resigning Zajac for his vet presence around all the kids we got is worth more IMO than the difference between a late 1st and 2nd, especially this year. Plus the meh prospect we made up still has some random shot in hell at becoming something, or they wouldn't have "meh" in the title.

You are truly on the outside if you think this is a weak return. COVID-19 has totally devastated the trade market for 3 reasons, and arguably 4 if you want to count a guy like Palmieri only having 34 games so far this season. I doubt anyone else gets a 1st in a trade.
