Your post was delusional.

Hage is not an "A" or "A+" prospect, he's a good prospect, but calling him A+ hints blue chipper, can't miss.... if he were anywhere near can't miss, he wouldn't have gone 21 just 6 months ago. If I used that terrible line of thinking, I would be able to claim Henry Mews is an "A+ Prospect" too... but he's not.

There is also 0 chance Andersson signs the contract you were suggesting either.

I've had a habit of putting posters who use "delusional" narratives on ignore mode lately. You can do better I am sure. I'll hold off from it and give you a 2nd chance to have a genuine conversation and avoiding trigger words. Up to you

Hage is not on the table. Doesn't matter if you think he is A+, A, A-, or B+. He's not available. Our offer is a mid range 1st as the prime piece. Then Newhook as the proven young NHL piece. Then it's either of Mailloux or Beck. That's the angle I'm coming from. You are allowed to decline but I am personally not going any higher.

As far as the contract Andersson would like. If he wants more, Habs are out. We are not trading for someone who will walk after next season or is after some bloated max deal taking him to age 37. Simple as that.

This is your offer as a fan. We don’t know what Hughes is willing to pay. It might be less; it might be more.
Imo Anderson would fit great with the Habs and Hughes will pay a higher price than you’re suggesting. Likely by adding picks and replacing Newhook with a better piece.

I'm not the one calling others delusional. Hage is not on the table. Makes no sense to debate how good or bad he is when he is not available. This creates stupid post war debates in which you are jumping in on and fueling the fire.

What you should focus on is just declining the trade with respect. Trying to tell me or any other Habs fan that we are overrating Hage is belittle narratives. Habs like what we see in his 1st NCAA season and that is our prerogative (right or wrong).

And yes, it's a offer from one fan and I do think several other Habs fans would make the offer I proposed as well. I also don't think Hughes will be desperate to add Andersson and pay a higher price. I think his offer is lower than mine to be honest.

It's basically a 2 year rental price. Most often, rentals go for late 1st rounders so that would be two late first rounders which is close to a mid range 1st that we are offering.

Do you really think he returns a mid range 1st, grade A, and a better young NHL piece than Newhook? If so, I doubt this is coming from the Habs. I wish the Flames good luck but with other teams.

Show me past futures trades that returned both a mid range 1st and a Grade A? Both in the same package?

As a fan on a trade chat forum, I am deciding he is not on the table and most other Habs fans would agree.

The Flames won't bother trading Andersson this year for two late 1sts as the main pieces coming back.

Yes, I understand that and that was not my offer. Follow the post trail to see the context.

My offer is:
* Mid range 1st (probably 10-18 range)
* NHL young player still under RFA control after his bridge (Newhook)
* RD or C Prospect who is close to NHL ready (Mailloux or Beck)
* Savard as an option... if you want to have a RD to fill a hole for the playoff run.
* Option to talk to Andersson's agent after the Flames/Habs agree on the parts. 6x $7.5M extension taking him to 35 in slight decline years while being on a team that should move up the standings. If Andersson wants the 8x Max AAV, Habs pass.

Andersson has cooled off quite a bit offensively since about a month now and is more on pace for what he already did offensively in the past seasons, which is 40-50 points Dman. I still think he is a pretty solid top 4 D and a possible top pair D with the right partner. I always liked the multiple facets he brings to his game and has a Habs fan, I think he would be an important piece of the puzzle going forward for us and I've been on record for almost a year saying Habs should get him if he is not staying in Calgary.

I would offer two packages but only this summer when we're able to extend him :

1) Dach + Habs 2026 1st + Engstrom

2) Newhook + Habs 2026 1st + Mailloux

As far as the extension, I would agree to sign him to a 7-8 years X 7,5M$ AAV.

Ah yeah, if that 1st is in the 10-18 range it’s fair basis trade history but I am guessing you are a year light on the extension

Feel like Habs would make a perfect match. Newhook+Mailloux+1st CGY is as good as an offer CGY can expect unless someone out of the playoffs actually looking to risk their 1st.

Bischel or Bourque could be nice pieces. They don’t really need Bischel either with Heiskanen Harley and Lindell all being lefties

Habs fans hate Newhook and for the 50th time in this thread despite his value, the Flames have no need for Mailloux with Parekh, Mews and Bru already in their pool

What the Flames really need is a potential #1 centre. If that prospect isn't being offered, I don't see why the Flames are trading Andersson now. Unless the Flames finish bottom 10, which looks pretty unlikely given how bad many NHL teams are this year, the Flames aren't even improving their draft position, due to that Montreal deal.

If the offer is late 1st, B prospect, plus junk, the Flames are likely holding onto Andersson at least until the draft and possibly much longer.

Who's better between these two? Not sure... I have them very close. Habs would need Kapanen (especially if we let Evans walk) so I'd say that prospect is Beck.

The other thing the Habs can offer (if it's a TDL trade), is Savard in the package as well. Gives the Flames a RD piece to use while they also chase the playoffs. If this is not possible at the TDL, Habs will reevaluate our options at the draft. You never know who becomes available.

What is Gorton/Hughes really thinking? Not sure. I know they prefer to bring in pieces that can help us now and the future so it appears Andersson fits but with assurances he will extend. Another option for us is Pulock.

Ignoring your valuation of a trade. Thinking Andersson is going to sign in the 7M range when the cap will be over 100M at the start of his new deal is hilarious. Scoffing at him asking for 8x8 is also hilarious. In reality you can probably double his current cap hit and that is roughly what he will get, maybe a bit less.

Ok, what team is trading a potential #1 C for a 28 year old top 4 RHD?

I love Andersson, I just don't see any team that has that prospect like that valuing a player like Andersson over their own.

Potential 1C is for sure the wrong term to use. You’re not getting a prospect who is looking like a 1C for very many players

An interesting C prospect should be what the flames target if they move Andersson though, that or LD is the biggest need in the prospect pool

Still think it’s more likely they just keep him though
