Rumor: Pagnotta: "Rasmus Andersson is open to a trade, he would welcome it" It would cost 3 assets...1st rnd pick, prospect, +

Yeah you're not gonna pretend Calgary fans didn't spend months talking about pieces like Mercer, Nemec, and 10th overall in regards to Jacob Markstrom.

Everyone WANTS the quality. But they don't get it.

There are out of touch fans everywhere.
I think Calgary would have had the 10th pick too last season if they pulled the trigger on the trade that was on the table.

They got a first, a top 4D for Markstrom who they needed to move to make space for Wolf.

We got way more for Markstrom than I thought we would. Way more for Lindholm. More for Mangiapane. Hanifin return was disappointing. Tanev was about as expected

Imo, Andersson is the most valuable one by a significant amount. A top pairing RD making 2.5M for two playoffs is absurd.

Difference is Rasmus can also be retained down to 2.2575 for the next year and a half. That has value.

retianing someone down to 3mil for next season is nice but the fact that Hronek was team controlled for 8 more years also had value.

All im saying is for Flames fans not to go too crazy on their expectations for a return on Ras.

Hronek is a very similar player

17th overall and 2nd round pick is the bar set...Ras probably get more but not much more than that.

which makes sense because the report is 1st round pick, + 2 assets

So if I'm getting this straight, he wants out of Calgary because he doesn't want to be in a rebuild and MTL fans think he's going to want to go to....a rebuilding team. Got it.

I dont think Andersson should get more unless theres some kind of pre agreement of a new deal.

Hes will be 29 by end of year and UFA end of next year Do you want to give a 30 year old a 7 year deal who will have UFA status that can test the market?

Hronek was 25 with a year left and RFA status.

I get that Andersson is the better player but all of these matters into the deal.

Montreal never made sense to me. He's also wildly underpaid with opportunity for 50% retention.

That's obviously way more valuable to a contender than Montreal.

Winnipeg is the most obvious fit. They got some good prospects and a strong need.

Legit question, do you actually feel that the Flames got "way more" for Lindholm.

They ate 2 years of Kuzmenko making 6mil a year. Do you know how much it would cost for a team to get rid of a 6mil cap dump with term..... 2x 1st? 1st and prospect?

on top of that they didnt get any of the Canucks top prospects. Hunter B is solid but thats not a Willander, Lekkerimaki, Mynio, Raty etc....

Jurmo who is ECHL at best

28th overall pick and 4th round pick.

Thats what CGY got for the highest coveted trade piece last year in the open market.

I personally dont think the Flames did good enough at all espeically since they bailed out a division rival from having that anchor Kuzmenko contract enabling them to sign Debrusk this year who is on pace for 30+ goals.

heck the 28th OA and 4th round pick should be what the Canucks paid just to get rid of 2 years of Kuzmenko.

Yes 1st and Hunter was more than I was expecting. I thought it would be either/or. He was actively pouting and had fallen off a cliff in play. I was expecting a disappointing Zadorov(missed him last post) like return for similar reasons.

We got that return based on how he played two years previously. I didn't think he had that type of premium left in him and I think any goodwill he had is gone less than a year later.

Andersson (with retention) is going to go for

mid to late 1st

B prospect (equivalent of a 2nd round pick)

3rd or later pick (value wise)

Any inkling on whether Weegar might move or waive his NTC if they asked?

I'd sooner try to trade for Weegar if it was remotely possible. He's only got 6 years left at a lower contract number and he will be 37 when the deal expires.

With Andersson, if you trade for him and sign him you're basically committing for 9 years (1 year left plus 8 year extension) at a higher number than Weegar. He would also be 37 when that 8 year extension expires.

Indeed. Yager or Lambert both are intriguing.

Count me out as a Jets fan interested in dealing significant assets for Andersson.

If I was only looking at this years playoffs, he'd obviously be a great add. But Riggins hits the nail on the head above. It would be a horrible use of assets IMO for the Jets and they'd either be looking to try and extend him to a large cap hit this summer, or be stuck in the "do we trade him this summer, trade him in season (unlikely), trade him at the next deadline (unlikely if they are in a playoff spot), or use as an own rental (bad use of assets IMO)" situation.

And then you add to the fact that if the Jets use futures in this trade, AND then aren't able to extend Ehlers, they've just had a bunch of talent walk out the door AND now don't have the prospects coming up to replace them.

lol Urban Impact trying to downplay the return for Lindholm once again. The cost to dump Kuzmenko has now increased to two 1sts!

I thought he was going to get a 1st + meh prospect given how he was playing.

They’ll get that at the deadline next year. Would have to be a good prospect if it is late 1st

Are we going to lie to ourselves now and claim Kevin Bahl was "quality over quantity"?

Are we also going to claim that about Miromanov in regards to the Hanifin trade?

Conroy should be willing to accept a slightly smaller package in return for being able to dump that bum Kuzmenko. $5M in wasted capspace for a healthy scratch

Depends on what your definition of a good prospect is. It wont be a top prospect thats for sure. It will be a teams 4th-5th best prospect.

At some point you gotta put the chips in. It's always a horrible use of assets. That's how the league is designed.

Your first is already gone, they just haven't decided on what yet. Prospects don't develop all the time, just take the hit. You're in first place in the division and have obvious holes on the team. Can't be worried about a prospect and cap space next year.

They won't retain for two years for a late first and B prospect on Andersson. That is basically what Hanifin got at the deadline last year and Andersson has an extra year on a great contract.

He is better than Holtz!

Seeing how the Flames got a low return on Hanifin.

TO VAN: Andersson
TO CGY: Suter, Desharnai, 1st, 2nd
